Sync A707
As a cell phone retailer I have had a lot of experience with the 707. My store uses it as our demo phone for AT&T. It has a better than average, well lit display and takes crystal clear pictures. The media player is also easy to access. As well, the keys on the key pad are a fair size and are spaced apart. All good points.
The bad side of this phone is, as per usual with Samsung, it does not have the OBEX bluetooth feature which is necessary to exchange pictures and ringtones via bluetooth. In addition, the sound quality on the speakerphone is sub-quality. Which waters down the experience with features such as Cingular video.
All in all, the sync is not a bad phone; however, for the feature lovers you might pass on this one.
GREAT FEATURES // GO SAMSUNG & CINGULAR
Just bought the phone and so far so good. The phone has great sound and a great look.
PROS
2MP Camera
Great Screen
Speaker phone
MP3's
Easy Menu
"Spring Loaded" Micro SD
Battery Life Great
CONS
The major con that seems to be a Samsung problem is signal strength. I live in a rural area and I have to admit the phone is a little weak in signal strength. But I can live with it. Overall this is a great phone. I have had the razr and many other phones. I really like this phone it may be a keeper.
Great Phone
I love this phone, I was looking for a phone that had the photo caller ID, Camera, & was flip. This phone exceeded my expectations.
I read in a couple other reviews that people were giving a con of "Micro-SD card slot is not spring loaded" Just to set the record straight, YES IT IS! Either they got a defective one or they just don't know how to use it.
Pros:
Great Photo & Display quality
Great sound clarity
Easy to navigate and figure out the menus
Cons:
The only con I found is the long delay with taking a picture, although with a 2Mp quality and the common camera phone has a delay, it's really not that big of a deal.
Love the Phone!
Thanks!
Very Nice, full function, Great Price, phone.
I purchased 2 of these for my wife and daughter [sorta for Christmas]. These were upgrades for some old nokia's, and after some hassle from the telephone service and then after a week having to return the older D807's to a corp store WAY in town [see forums for that story]. I got these for 29.99 with the online deal with the media max for at least a month...
I have an older Sony E swivel phone that i paid almost 200 bucks, and these blast it out of the water.
This seems to have any feature my girls could want. The 3G is super fast, the camera is very nice, and the music is great. I have had a bit of trouble with the software, but i think it's because it was for the the d807. It seems to "sync" with media player and with play-lists too.
Some of the complaints others have had about this i think are more related to being used to other phones or interface. These seem to work fine for us.
I'll try to do an update in a month or so, but so far GREAT!
Excellent Phone
I have owned this phone for about 3 days now. It was an upgrade from a Sony Ericsson Z520a, which I think was a good overall phone. However, this phone is definitely an upgrade. The screen is large and high res, menus and text are anti-aliased, great camera, and a nice touch with the heat sensitive controls on the front display. The Bluetooh functionality is excellent, no problems syncing with PC, other phones, or my car's factory BT system. My only quips are that you have hold down the side keys to look at the time or access the mp3 player when the flip is closed.
Pros:
-Great camera
-High res screen
-Stereo bluetooth
-Slim design
-Heat sensitive controls on front
Cons:
-No flash
-Have to by headphones separately
-SD card is not spring loaded
Awesome phone if you can live with its obvious quirks
I recently returned my LG CU500 and bought a Samsung A707/SYNC. I love Samsungs and wanted nothing more than to see this phone succeed, but after using it for about 3 weeks I'm starting to realize this phone is all about looks and not function. I'm so displeased with its quirks that I am returning my A707 and buying back my LG CU500 (which is a much better phone all around). Here are the main things I noticed.
PROS:
-Super fast 3G
-Good reception
-Gorgeous QVGA Internal screen
-More profiles than just normal & vibrate
-Nice external touch sensitive MP3 controls
-Super thin
-Comfortable keypad and side keys
-Menus are beautiful, well thought out, extremely functional, and use anti aliased text
CONS:
-Call volume is too quiet
-Menu lag is aggravating
-No custom tones for text messages
-Horrible external screen, not only in looks but functionality (must hold side button forever to see date/time)
-Media player is joke. (Goofy visualization, cant pick a certain song while flip is closed, not very loud if you have any background noise around you)
-Cant listen to MP3s and do anything else on the phone
-No "push/spring" mechanism for MicroSD so I have to use tweezers to get the card out. (Either mine is broken or its the worst memory card slot I've ever seen)
-Hard to open flip w/ one hand unless you have nails
-Can't install Java apps to memory card

Great Phone
This is a great phone. We have had it since 2007 and it has been working great! once the I-phones came out we set this phone aside and everyone got an Apple product.
Now 5 years later, I am going back to the Samsung.
Several benefits:
Longer battery life 4 hours (constant talk time) - 10 days (in standby)
Better reception
NO mandatory data plan
2G/3G/4G capability
Smaller size
large memory dependent upon your added micro SD card (I have 4G)
Con:
No Apple Apps...but who needs them
Outstanding & Long Lasting
About 2 years ago I bought 3 of these phones from a lady thro a craigslist ad & they are outstanding. I gave 1 to each of my teenage sons. They love them & are still going strong (the phones & my sons) & they must be about 5 years old now (the phones, not my sons who are 17 & 20). The camera has stopped working on one of them but other than scratches they are excellent. I've tried other phones but keep coming back to my A707. If a tech-savvy teenager likes a phone that says a lot.
Pros: Interface, calling, ease of texting, clamshell, durable
Cons: I still haven't figured out how to change ring tones; dead camera on one of the 3 we own; can't see clock on outside front display
I am a big fan of Samsung & Motorola phones.
It's 2011 and I'd still rather have this phone
Can be hooked up to laptop and used as a 3G Modem.
Runs Gmail, google maps and Facebook
Needs an adapter to hook up head phones but the the MP3 player works great accepts micro SD cards.
The camera is great for stills and prints out nicely.
You can use the bluetooth to wirelessly send photos to the CVS photo machines. You can also email them to yourself and friends.
I've actually washed it and gone through the dryer and had it be OK. But over the years I have beat them up I am on my 3rd one but they can be had pretty cheap and without a new contract.
My brother has an I-Phone but I'd rather have this phone.
It rarely drops calls and get signals when an I-Phone doesn't.
Love it, was cool!!
I recently used this phone, before I went fully to verizon. This phone I had in black, it surely was really durable. I'll admit I threw it around and it was a great phone.
Until, the outer screen broke, and it was a sad moment, because I could no longer see my mp3 songs, never see who was calling me. Then the inner screen went off, that was the last straw, and what broke up me from this phone
tHATS THE ONLY REASON I GIVE A 2.5 because it did this and if it didnt it was a great phone
