VX7000 outshines the VX6000!

Jul 15, 2004 by havok

I had returned my VX6000 several months ago because of several problems:

1. I had no reception.
2. I had a faulty camera (adjusting the color of the lenses and brightness would make the camera freeze up); the only way I could fix it was to take the battery out and start over.
3. I couldn't save pictures from messages onto the phone (which was costing me .25 cents each message with nothing to show for on my phone!)

After having the same problems with 2 VX6000's, I handed it back to Verizon and settled for a VX4500. After seeing the VX7000 about 2 weeks ago, I opted to pay the difference and get myself one. I'll say right now that the reception is top-notch, and I haven't lost a call yet. The camera is much more sophisticated, and I haven't experienced any "bugs" in the camera programming. There are now zoom and flash features on the phone, and both work quite well.

PROS:

Great, loud ringers
Great reception
Amazing resolution on screen
Easier to use menu than previous LG's
Easier-to-use camera with more features
Clearer pictures
Great caller ID screen on front
More memory allows phone to store more
pictures and voice tags than the VX6000
More solid feel than the VX6000

CONS:

No alternatively priced equipment yet, as
this phone is still very new
Still cannot get all "Get-It-Now"
applications
Still cannot send more than one picture in
a message at a time - thanks to Verizon
trying to get us for all the money they
can
Although a good solid feel, not very
compact or sleek (depending on what look
you like in a phone); one would think
that LG would make something a little
more stylish or cutting edge in appearance
Voice recognition still picky sometimes, as
seen with all LG phones I've had in
the past

Overall, I see that it's true about any new piece of technology: wait for the 2nd generation - they've worked out most or all of the bugs by then. A definite improvement on the VX6000, though!

Great phone to buy.....

Jul 21, 2004 by Smurfmom2149

I purchased this handset and I have absolutely no problems with it. This handset is one of the best I have owned from Verizon. I have not run into any bugs at all. True this phone is a bit bigger then some of the other handsets Verizon offers, but it is not Huge like some people have described. Yes the vx 8000 does look like it will be a great handset, but considering its barely into testing if it is at all, it may be another year before you see that one on store racks. By that time the carrier that launches it may change the specs on it. The 7000 was originally supposed to be tri-mode however it was the carrier that decided to remove the analog from it, not LG. Tri-mode phones will soon be a thing of the past due to the FCC regulations about all carriers not being able to use analog in a few years.

I have no Problem using digital only handsets, the reception isn't any better in digital areas with a tri mode phone. Verizon, the carrier that launched the VX7000 has a 95% digital network, so Analog isn't a major issue with them anyway. The reception on this handset is perfect, I have had no issues with that.

To compare this handset to any other does not make sense in my mind. The v710 or the v810 from Motorola true, do look like great handsets, but due to bugs with them, they both went back into testing. The LG-vx6000 had a few glitches when it first came out, however they have nothing to do with this handset.

I would have liked to see a speaker phone with this handset, however I probably use the 15 seconds of video you and record and send with this handset more then I ever would a speaker phone. You can make and record your own ring tones with this handset, as well as download them. This handset also has picture caller ID and ringer caller ID. Another handy tool I have grown to like. Basically I give this handset an A++++ Buy it, you will not be disappointed.. if your still worried remember Verizon gives you 15 days to try it out. =)

7000 is a great phone

Jul 2, 2004 by Cal Brewin

I won't get technical, what matters is it works for me. I had the Samsung 670 for a little more than a week, then had a side by side comparison with the 7000 in the VZW store. The picture quality was incomparable, the 7000 won going away! So we made the switch to the LG VX7000 (about $45 more per phone). So far very happy with the phone. Calls are clear, ringers plenty loud, and the multi color flashing LEDs on incoming calls will get your attention! The slightly larger size fits my hand nicely. I am happy we got the phone, and I won't be sorry when something "better" comes out, because like computers, something "better" is always in the works. This is by far the best in its class right now!

Pros:
Large, easy to see LCD screen.
Flash pictures.
Picture messaging with sound.
Record and Send Video to email.
Call Quality has been great.
Size does matter, slightly larger than Samsung 670, but is also a larger LCD screen inside.
Can be charged without removing protective rubber plug in bottom of phone( I almost lost the Samsungs plug, I hated that I had to pull that plug to charge its battery!).

Cons:
The only con I have right now would be the stubby antenna. It doesn't bother me, but I know if it had a retractable antenna, it could lose about 1/2" in height.

You Won't Be Dissapointed...

After upgrading from the VX4400.. I would have to say that this is a great phone. Call quality is great, pictures are clear, video is good, flash is bright, ringers are loud and clear, ect.

The only cons I've found with this phone are:

* You no longer have a "Saved" folder for Text Messages.

* You cannot change the menu color from red.

* No independant voice dialing (You still have to program the voice commands)

* Limited number of phone book entries that you can place into groups.

* No speaker phone/bluetooth.

*Front LCD stays "dim" for a long period of time after "backlight" goes out.

I work for Verizon Wireless and I think this is the best option for an advanced phone right now.. Just please keep one thing in mind when buying a new phone.. If it says Motorola.. RUN!!!!

Little Samsung vs. BIG LG

Sep 1, 2004 by Vzwguya670

Verizon has since released a contender for the Samsung A670. The LG-VX7000 is a BIG cool phone. I like this phone! Before I bought my A670 I did extensive research on both phones. The Samsung was released a few days before the Big Ol' LG-VX7000, and if you remember Verizon had launched video messaging not too long before or after that I can't quite remember. It was a toss-up for me at first. Feature on both phones are great. The LG-VX7000 will do a bit more than the Samsung but..it is worth the big price jump? Ah ha, NO. From me trying both phones and reading up on both phones is that the LG-VX7000 will send the video taken from the phone and the Samsung will not, and the MP3 ability. Other than that, and of course the size is all I found to be different. Oh, and the lens on the LG-VX7000 will rotate as well. The lens on Samsung A670 is stationary, and I think the video may be a little better on the LG-VX7000 but other than that, I myself don't think its worth the big price jump between the two phones. But I'm not degrading LG one bit. The LG-VX7000 is my second choice.

PROS:Will send Video,MP3 ability,and larger display.
CONS:Very BIG Phone, with a very BIG Price. Samsung is just as capable in almost everything but sending video and MP3 ability. Both are great little and BIG phones.

good phone

Cons:
Camera lies to you -- see below
User Interface - can't customize it at all. Have to do things the way "they" want me to, plus it's ugly
Signal - bad (yes, i did compare) -- see below
No Analog
Thick little guy

Pros:
Camera - good focus, nice pictures
Very light

Overall, this is a nice phone that works well in general. I felt very betrayed yesterday when i discovered that the image you see after you press the OK button is NOT the image that's actually saved. I thought I had the shot I wanted (per the still image), but when i went back to the gallery, it wasn't the same one. This can be seen easily by taking a picture of an object, then moving it away, or moving the phone away. What is saved is actually a little bit AFTER the still image shown on the display.

The moto v710 and all the other motos flicker or turn black for 1/4sec, but at least it shows you the picture you saved rather than the picture you were looking at.

I'm one of the lucky few that gets to use both the lg vx7000 and the moto v710. At home, the LG is useless, even outside, whereas the moto can make/take and stays on calls fine.

Good solid phone, but if I can't use it at home, it's a 3.

Neat , Fun, and Quality all in one!

What a great phone. I upgraded from the Vx4600 which is also a great phone I just wanted something with some more fun in it and a little bigger as well. I had the V710 and took it back to Radio shack as it was just too expensive (at radio shack) then I realized that it had lots of features I was not gonna use.

Pros of the VX7000
-Great ringer tone
-Size is actually nice, not too big like some say.
-Beautiful screen
-exterior screen is adequate
-new software is easy and neat.
-stub antenna is better to me.
-love the look and color of phone
-love the LEDs that flash with a call
-camera is very nice for a camera phone
-video is fun and adequate as well
-the keys are the best part for me as I have big fingers and hands. they are space well and neatly placed. thanks LG!
-
-overall great phone and fair price even at full retail $349.99 - a $70.00 rebate.

Cons of the VX7000

-I guess being able to turn off the LEDs would be nice as some people may find them too much however, I think that the target market for a phone like this is more fun than business types..
-a cradle type charger is nicer but it would be hard to make for a phone like this.
-so far no major complaints I love it!

Never pay for ringtones

Jul 16, 2004 by verizonrules

This phone is sweet so far.

The best feature I found so far are two things. They finallly let us program words into our t9 again, software on the 6000 prohibited that unless you had the original software. Secondly, you can record your own ringtones and they sound absolutely awesome. The only thing I don't like is that the outside display is not as crisp as it could be but I still think this phone is awesome. I could go for an extended battery b/c I had one on my 6k. I like the ability to be able to take secret photos without anyone knowing, face it, you know you're going to be doing it. The one thing I don't like is that it has only 4 bars that show, but that's definitley not a big issue. It just makes me think that I'm not getting as good reception as I should be. LOL, but no biggie. Otherwise... get the phone. It's got excellent features and until the 8000 comes out this will probably be the best phone around.

awesome

I use mine for business. The phone has worked in places where no other cell phone would work. The reception is awesome.

The games and ringtones are really good for a phone...love the baseball.

Camera, e-mail, voice messaging, are all good and the Alarm clock is awesome after a night of partying.

You CAN shoot photos and preview them using the outer display with the phone closed. Just press and hold the right side button. Press it again to take a shot.

Positives: Great reception, good apps and games, any ringtone you can record, nice display, and the multicolored LED when you get a call.

Negatives: none...other than everyone trys to borrow it when they can't get any reception from there phone.....he he he

Love this Phone

Jan 18, 2005 by ryansgirl

I just got this phone yesterday... I got it because I broke my V710. I wanted the V710 for the speaker phone and bluetooth, but it wasn't worth the hassel for the rest of the phone. I got out of my car the other night, and my V710 fell to the ground, at which point the lcd part of the phone was completely severed from the rest of the phone. Not wanting to pay for repairs, I ordered the VX7000. I am in love with this phone. I URGE anyone who is considering the V710 not to buy this phone! It doesn't live up to the hype that surrounds it.
Pros of VX7000
Sound quality- Ringtones and calls
Camera quality- Pictures on this phone come out WAY better than the V710.
Keypad- Much easier to use than the V710.
Overall apperance of the phone is better than the V710. Also, the internet seems faster, and has less bugs. My motorola always froze up. The functuality of VX7000 is better also.
Cons of VX7000
Speakerphone- Lack of, but not a big deal to me.
Bluetooth- Doesn't matter too much because the V710's bluetooth is handicapped, and not worth much anyway.
I really do love this phone though, and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a good camera phone on Verizon! :)
