I got this phone because it downloads real music tones plus it looked really nice. Well looks are very deceiving. The ring tones are all of a second long and repeated over and over..for example I downloaded the Cl ash's should I stay or should I go. What I got was a few notes, his "woo", a couple of notes and then it repeats. Not even the chorus. I can't assign tones to individual persons, not that it matters because I can barely hear it. If you chose vibrate with tone what you get is 3 vibrates and half a second of tone which equals a lot of missed calls. Mine didn't even come with an ear bud. I was told it was a speaker phone and didn't require one. I had to call Cingular and request one since no one had any in Dallas TX. (surprising since Samsung's address is in Richardson TX, 10 minutes from my house). Only 8 available speed dial locations. And a host of other things I don't like. On the bright side the pictures are really good, the phone is small and sleek, the LCD screen is amazingly clear and crisp. After I'm done researching phones here I'll be exchanging it for something better.

it is an excellent phone, with awesome signal, and great sound quality.....i used to have the Motorola v600 but this samsung is 1000 times better.

- no speakerphone.
This phone sucks!!!
I only give it one star for the camera feature. the rest sucks. the phone blanks out on me, i have frequent dropped calls and sometimes, the screen splits and you have to turn it off and take the battery out to turn the phone back on. overall...NEVER get this phone. my nextel phone is 100xs better than cingular.
CONFUSION
First of all, anyone in the cellular industry will tell you that the phone makes very little(i didn't say no) difference on the reception. It falls mostly on the Carrier. Complain to your Carrier. Second of all, here are the my pro's and con's:

-ringtone quality
-display quality
-easy to use
I think average people will get this phone just based on these qualities
Con
-no bluetooth
-no speaker
-the E317 has no video clip
-can't find a single accessory for this because Samsung keeps on changing the battery and earpiece(SO ANNOYING!!!)
Overall, this is a very good phone for the average person. But, if you like more out of your phone like i do, get a PDA phone.
Awful, Just Awful!
Do not get this phone. Consider the Samsung E715, or motorola v300. You WILL be disappointed if u get this phone.
