HOW MUCH DO I LOVE MY 4400?

Jun 9, 2005 by susansunshine

I LOVE my 4400, so much that when it came time to upgrade last month I wasn't ready to give it up yet. Verizon ran a Mother's Day promotion; buy one 6100 for $49.95 and get second one free, so we decided to go for it. My husband was more than ready to trade in his VX10 for a color & speaker phone. After activating both new phones, I had them re-activate my 4400. I LOVE the color feature that allows you to assign a different color to incoming calls, missed calls, standby, etc. I especially like the 'Dynamic' choice which comes out with at least 7 different colors one right after the other. At night, it reminds me of a flashing neon sign. This is the ONLY phone with that unique feature. I really cannot find anything I don't like about my 4400.

PROS- I LOVE the LOUD ringers! Rarely miss a call which is sooo important to me.
I like the alarm and use it when I travel.
I like the voice memo, and the scheduler. I have NO problems with the ringer choices as others have stated in their reviews. I have great reception, and sound quality. I love the exterior of this phone, but keep it protected with a leather case. I have received excellent service from Verizon, too.

CONS- I can't find anything negative, but one feature that would've been nice would have been to made it a speaker phone. But, if I feel the need for that feature, I will have my 6100 activated. AND, I am thinking of adding another line, so then I would have the best of both worlds.

Did I mention that I LOVE this phone???

This Cell Phone Rocks

Apr 6, 2005 by Dan W.

Pros: No Bluetooth so it cannot be hacked easily

2. Tri-Mode - This allows signal to be picked up in many places

3. Antennae extends for stronger signal

4. Great Reception and Coverage

Cons: Buttons on side can be easily pushed while in pocket -- it would be nice to have a cover to slide over and back from the buttons

2. Verizon Wireless does not have service for blocking, read ack and informational alerts with this cell phone although LG has the services on this phone

3. Plastic cover over digital text can scratch fairly easily

4. No camera but this could also be considered a pro if you need to go to a place where camera phones are not allowed

Time for a new phone...

Mar 30, 2005 by WonderDude

I've owned this phone for almost a year and 10 months now. And it's been pretty good up until about a month ago. For some reason the phone has trouble with reception at the point of trying to connect. Another words, the phone displays 5 and 6 bars. But then when I try to call, it momentarily looses complete connection for about 5 secs or so. This is annoying when you're in a hurry to call someone. :-(

The rants and raves below pertain to the time when the phone was still working well...

Pros...
~Nice looking
~Reliable
~Good reception
~Games
~Holds 199 entries with multiple numbers and one email
~Fits on my belt
~reasonable battery life

Cons...
~Side buttons are easy to hit when trying to answer phone. This is bad because if you hit either of them more than once, the caller will be cut off. I have missed a few calls this way.
~Must remove phone from belt clip to open
~Somewhat slow downloads
~No camera
~Older technology

It's been a reasonable phone. And I would still consider LG.

Happy Hunting! ;-)

Clear as a bell for hearing aid users

When looking for service I needed to find a phone that was compatible with digital hearing aids. The LG 4440 was rated in consumer reports as a very good quality phone with good sound, clarity, and volume controls. I went with US Cellular in Madison, WI. This phone has maintained great sound, picture and function. However, once the Battery came in contact with moisture, a dramatic decline in the battery life! I have had this phone for 1 1/2 years and still going strong.

I would recommend this phone to any one that has hearing aids.

Sturdy dependable phone

I must say I'm a bit tainted in that my particular phone had terrible reception(verizon). My wife had a Nokia basic model that worked fine in my home, I borrowed a friends VX4400 that worked ok in my home, and my new 6100 works great(all verizon). I definitely had a lemon, with that said (and assuming the reception of my friends VX4400).

Pros:
* Memory for 200 entries in phone book.
* Very Sturdy solid construction (built better then my 6100)
* All the phone basics are covered.
* 1 or 2 key speed dial is a great feature
* Can assign 1 position of the middle 5 way button to a custom menu item
* Always sounded great
* Tri mode is a plus. Definitely went into analog more then once.

Cons:
* Middle 5 way button would be more useful if 4 were custom assigned.(they assign one to get it now ... WHY? how often does one use this .. I guess they have to make money also)
* Didn't have a positive click on the OK button (the middle of the 5 way button)

AWESOME phone, great price.

Got the LG-VX4400 as an upgrade from my old Audiovox. Must say, I'm one of those people that does NOT like change, and fully expected to hate this phone. But, once I had it activated and in my hand, it was hard to dislike. The LG-VX4400 is a sturdy, well made phone. I know this because I dropped mine about a million times, on everything from carpet to pavement..HARD, and it never broke or cracked the casing, and the screen was never scratched or damaged. Easy to open, even with one hand. Keys are soft, and placed so that theyre easy to operate and text with. Screen is nice and bright, menus are VERY easy to work through. Battery life was real good with a talk time of at least 2 and a half hours. Got it through Verizon, I live in the Cinci area of Ohio, and service was awesome EVERYWHERE I went..even out of Ohio. Used the phone for two years, and probably had maybe 5 dropped calls in all that time. Volume is loud and clear also..
There is no speakerphone (which isnt a bad thing if you dont use the feature anyway), and the vibrate feature isnt that great because you can barely feel it when an incoming call is received.

PROS:
VERY sturdy, durable phone.
Nice bright screens, large display.
Keys placed so easy to text.
Menus easy to work through.
Awesome call clarity, and reception.
Side key one touch "manner mode" for quick switch.
Good volume control.
Fairly good battery life.

CONS:
Ring tones arent so great. There isnt even one that sounds "professional"
Vibrate feature NOT so great. Very light vibration, can barely feel it, and if its on a belt clip or in a case, you wont feel it at all.
No Speaker phone.
Antenna bends easily.

All in all, I think this is an AWESOME phone, and highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for something basic, sturdy, durable and dependable.
If youre looking for frills (camera phone, video phone, speakerphone) Id go with the LG-VX7000. My boyfriend has it, and he LOVES it.

I can't wait to get my new cell phone

Feb 27, 2005 by LaChicaItaliana3

I've had my 4400 for 2 years now, and this is the 3rd one I've gone through. I'm very glad they've taken this phone off the market, cuz I can't even bring up how many flaws this phone has!!

Pros-
Great phone of its time picture was nice for the first wave of color graphics

nice affordable price

very durable

Cons-
horrible speaker quality
picture contrast keeps getting messed up after making a call and having to readjust it.
my text message works only about %50 of the time. otherwise it'll just say "message could not be delivered: General Problems

It was fun for it's time, but it's definitely time to move on, glad this is taken off the market!! I hope the 6100 is better!

Pretty good overall!

The LG VX4400 is a fairly good phone overall.
Pros: Decently large, bright screen
Easy to use, very intuitive
External screen is nice
Keypad is nice & tactile (bright blue backlit buttons)
Quite customizable, lots of options
Good build quality
External screen stays lit when charging (this is actually a plus because you can find your phone in the dark)

Cons: Thick & bulky
Vibrate is VERY weak
Loudest ringer is still too QUIET
Takes nearly 25 seconds to turn on
Annoying external antenna
In calls, echoes in background
Short battery life (extended battery may fix this)
Ringtones are...terrible, horrible, no good, and very bad
Alarm won't work when phone is off
Charging the battery takes for...e...ver
No speakerphone
Limited selection of faceplates
Doesn't come w/ any games
Front cover is easily scratched

In the end, I can recommend this phone. However, you should know that you will probably miss quite a few calls with this phone. This is because the ringers are too quiet and the vibrate is too weak (especially if it's in a belt clip). Also, it may put itself on silent (or Normal or Manner Mode) while in your pocket. The Vibe & Ring is a joke, because by the time it finishes vibrating, the person is about to hang up. You just have to decide what's important to you: Receiving calls ALL of the time, or everything else.

TERRIBLE

Nov 20, 2004 by silverwolf0_0

THIS WAS THE WORST PHONE I EVER OWNED!

I had this phone for almost a year and i paid full price for it. half of the time the features didn't work unless you disconnected the battery and rebooted the phone. the signal was usually terrible in places where most phones had good signal.
i was more than happy to sign a new contract to get rid of that piece of junk. my fiance also had the same phone at the time and hers was exactly the same!!!

I LOVE MY KYROCIA SLIDER!!!
