to the person that basically screamed for help i can tell you that yes that is a defective handset..my sister has the same phone.. and she has it set at lvl 2 and you can hear perfect on it... not a single issue with it at all.... and lvl 5 on a samsung is th loudest and if you are with in about 1/1 a foot from the phone you can hear... ii suggest taking it to a local verizon store with a tech and have the swap it out... i own an a530 and i have my phone on lvl 3 and its loud... but not loud enough for people to hear my conversation... hope this is helpful to you... from what i have seen the phone is awesome there really are no major flaws... for the dude with the batt issue... look at the ext batt.. and stop charging your phone over night you are killing the battery.. read the manual for how long it should take to charge from a dead cell batt.. charge it no more then that and pull it off the charger... i learned this trick years ago and have yet to have any battery issues.. hope that helps you out.... :)
OVERALL awesome handset and worth the money
Almost perfect
I got the phone today and I like it. There are a couple of things that need to be changed, however, to be the perfect phone. #1... I hate the way the Verizon Wireless banner alternates/flashes between the date/time and the ERI status. I would much rather have it solid like the other Verizon Wireless phones. #2..... I wish there was a way to SEND the video that the phone is able to record! All in all though, it is a keeper. Hopefully, they will come out with a firmware upgrade that will fix these two problems.
Overall..couldn't be happier!!
I've had this phone for over 2 weeks now. I wanted to wait until my 15-day trial period was over. This phone is a keeper!
The clarity of reception and voice quality is exceptional! I'm in Southern CA where analog isn't needed. The voice activation feature is so much better than my old v60i. The ringer volume, despite many complaints, is loud enough and the vibrate mode holds a lot of power. The volume is almost too loud (but can be rectified easily by turning it down), you definitely can't say you can't hear what the other person is saying with this phone!
The camera is a neat little toy and you have zoom capacity in medium & low resolutions. The flash is a great feature too!
Maneuvering through the menus is as easy as the Motorolas. The contact book can be customized with individual ringtones and pictures. Great feature!! There is a headset plug (standard 2.5) that with a on/off button, you can answer calls & use the voice dialing,
The only con I find is no speakerphone, but I've never had a speakerphone on a cell before so I'm not missing feature too much!!
This phone is an overall solid phone. I went into the VZW store & told the CSR what I was looking for & what features I wanted...this phone net my demands!!!
Awesome!!
this is an awesome phone. ive never had a flip phone, but boy do i love it!!
Pros:
excellent size
nice keypad
good pictures
nice big front display
loud ringer
easy menu
large contact book
blue lights (anything blue is a plus for me)
extras, calc, count down, planner, etc.
Cons:
stupid rings, unless you download
no vibrate and ring, just vibrate then ring
no speaker phone (which i knew going into it)
no games
gets a little warm after long use
not a very long battery life, but i charge it every night anyway
all in all, no complaints really, i love it!!
The A670 is very highend phone
I recently purchased this phone while upgrading with Verizon Wireless. I had the motorola T720 and let me tell you this phone will run circles around anything I've ever used. The call quailty is incrediable, the voice quailty of callers is crystal clear and the Voice Dial features are flawless. The camera is awesome for a cellphone and takes very decent pictures, another cool feature I like is Photo ID that's really neat. I have no Cons about this phone I give it an 11 on a scale of 1-10. This phone rocks!
Like it!
I switched from a Motorola t730 which was far better than it's predecessor. Still, this phone feels better, sounds better, has superior reception and is much more solidly constructed.
Pros:
- Size and feel. I don't feel like I have a rock in my pocket anymore.
- construction is very solid
- Reception is better than my Motorola
- I love the voice recognition
Cons:
- Battery life isn't a strength. I opted for the extended battery which makes the phone a little bigger, but not by much.
- Ringtones aren't great
Great phone
I recently switched to Verizon and purchased 2 Samsung a670's. It is the best phone I have ever used. The build quality is top notch as well as the intuitive keypad. The reception is as clear as a land-line phone. The camera is easy to use and the picture quality is very good, and it has a flash. The voice dialing features work great. All in all I couldn't be more satisfied with a cell phone. It even has a very good, easy to follow and understand manual.
Some issuesbut overall a great phone
Even with the list (below) of "I wish it did..." I still think it is one of the best that is currently available. I looked at almost every verizon compatible phone and this was my choice. It is very attractive, significant functionality and very clear sound quality.
So here is a collective of the things that would be nice if it had, and hopefully some of these things that might get addressed in a future software download or initialization:
1) If you use "erase all" in the picture
gallery you will also erase all your
picture to phone# links even if some of
the pics are locked.
2) No speakerphone
3) No analog
4) No AUTO rescan setting to scan for new
antennas in the phones current area
5) No way to assign multiple speed dials
to one contact (business, home, cell, etc)
6) No way to re-use a front office work
phone number with more than one contact.
7) No volume control on playback of
"voice memo", needs to be louder if your
reviewing messages and viewing the
screen and not up to your ear
8) Video is a bit choppy
9) Data cable and software are still not
available
just my thoughts...

Solid upgrade from A530
I mainly use my mobile phone in Oxford, Ohio (Miami University). Oxford is about 35 miles North of Cincinnati. My service provider is Verizon Wireless (of course!). Service with the A670 is a little better than the A530, and much better than the LG VX4500 (I had it for eight days).
Pros:
Incredible internal screen
Ring tones are a bit louder
Volume is louder too
Stylish
A bit larger than the A530
Build quality
"OK" button in center
Cons:
Only 15 preloaded ring tones
LED flash isn't as bright as some other phones
I've been waiting for this phone for several weeks. Today I went to the Colerain Verizon Wireless Store (Cincinnati, Ohio), and bought it. $199.99 with a $70.00 mail-in rebate. I was the first to buy it also!
The A530 was stylish, though just a bit small for me (6', 22 year-old college student). The A670 fits my hands perfectly. The number buttons are much larger than the A530, which suits me well. I am thoroughly impressed at how much higher the build quality is now. Even the materials are of a higher quality. Startup time is also reduced; and that is something that has plagued the A530.
I haven't really used the camera too much yet. All I can say right now is that it is much nicer than that of they Sony Ericsson T616 I had with Cingular.
The A670 is simple and sexy enough for the casual user, who would like to take some quick snapshots from time to time. I highly recommend the A670!
