Motorola V220
Average Ratings
The worst phone ever
This is the worst phone I have ever owned.
Pros:
Ringer tone ID
Picture ID
Not much in the pro column to mention
Cons:
Drops calls
Not very loud ringer couldn't hear it in my purse.
Its cheaply made, can hear the plastic sounds from it.
The menu is not very friendly.
Not able to just point and take a picture, have to go through a lot of steps to take a picture.
Not able to download ring tones.
The phone never connects to the web.
I'm sure I could go on and on with the cons of this phone, but I wont. To sum it up this is a horrible phone and you should not waste your money on it. If you want a phone that is reliable don't even glance in this phones direction.
Really Loved this Phone
When I first signed up with Cingular (2 yrs ago) I got the V220. I loved this phone!! I never had one problem with it. I even dropped it in the snow, the snow melted and ran into it and it still worked perfectly. That was the only time I ever dropped a cell phone.
Yes the picture quailty with taking pic's isn't all that great, and the speaker isn't all that loud. But with a camera phone one thing people tend to forget, it don't have high mp's like regular digital camera's. So it's going to be a pretty crappy picture. But it serves it's purpose. Especially when the lady who lives in the apartment below you hangs all her bra's out on the balchony to dry!
All my friends have different brand camera phones, and the quality is just as bad if not worse than the V220. I had perfect reception and full siganl with this phone at all times.
I can tell anyone who is looking into upgrading or purchasing a new cell, do not get the samsung x497 (biggest mistake in my life).
Pro's:
Flip, Speaker phone, download MP3's, download games, light weight, easy use, camera, you can change housing/face plates
Con's:
clarity of pic's, speaker phone not all that loud if it's more than a foot from your ear
HORRIBLE PHONE
Save yourself the time and money and don't get this phone. I have yet to find one good feature about this phone! The ringtones are horrible, it doesn't come with any games, and the camera takes horrible pictures (Yes, I know you have to take in consideration that it is a camera on a phone and not a top of the line digital camera. However, my friends have cheaper phones than me and their cameras are 10 times better!) The battery power will be full one minute, and the next it is flashing saying it needs to be charged!! Also, if you buy this phone, I hope you don't plan on talking to people and having a clear conversation with them due to the fact that the volume is horrible and the phone shuts off during some calls. This has happened more than once!! The phone scratches VERY easy also. I have dropped it once and it has more scratches than I can count. Lastly, the screen on this phone is not the best. It is blurry and the color is not great. Do yourself a HUGE favor and do NOT buy this piece of junk!!!
I love Motorola, but, this one......
I bought this phone off ebay, so it was used, but it wasn't scratched or anything, it looked new to me. I use Tmobile, I just swapped in my SIM card.
Pros:
>It's nice and small
>Unlike most phones, you can't HEAR it vibrate, its almost completely silent, you can't hear it in a movie theater or classroom, etc.
>I never had problems with the software
>Lightweight
Cons:
>The camera sucks
>I dropped it twice and both times I had to go get it REPAIRED... its too fragile
>The keypad buttons are spread apart too much
>Small screen size
>Ringtones are not exciting
I like this phone
I also am glad I didn't listen to some of these reviews. I've had this phone for 6 months and I love it. The sound quality is great, camera is very nice, I can't think of one negative thing to say about it. I am a very happy customer!
V220 is the Worst Phone you could get!
I am not one to complain and I'm not super picky about all the features of a phone, but I would like my phone to work, or be semi-reliable. This phone is truly the worst phone I think they have out there. I got the phone in September and by January it wasn't working. It was as though my phone was constantly on mute where no one could hear me--I couldn't even leave voicemail. Of course when I called Cingular, the customer service woman was able to get it to work...for a week. Finally, after complaining again, they sent me a new phone, same make and model. The new phone stopped working efficiently within ONE month. Sometimes it drops calls, but more often the person on the other end just fades out during the conversation and I can't hear anything but silence. Even when it's fully working, I have a difficult time getting hearing anyone. I have to slap the phone to get voices to come back.
The camera also died on me by the second month...and that is the least of my concerns. At this point, I just want the phone part to work! Every time I talk on the phone, I just want to throw it because I'm so frustrated. I don't abuse my phones and I have had 3 other phones in the past, all worked fine until I upgraded. Since my problems with this phone, I have read so many other terrible reviews. I don't understand how they haven't pulled the V220 off the shelves! Do NOT get one!
sucks
this phone really sucks. i'm on my 2nd one in a year, the screen has blanked out both times, reception is horrible, camera quality is horrible, and the screen freezes.
i'm a fan of motorola phones, my 1st phone was a motorola and i loved it (my dad had gotten an upgrade from cingular so we traded it in), then i got this piece of junk 4 phones later and have had problems all year. at least it waited to completely die until i got home for college. and i can't even get an upgrade for another year, i have to go buy a new phone tomorrow.
Don't Buy This Phone!
Dropped calls irritating me
I purchased a in February '05 when I switched carriers. I chose the Motorola because I owned 2 other Motorolas before this model and was very pleased with them. The phone worked great the first 6 months I owned it. I even got reception in places I couldn't with my old carrier.
Six months into owning this phone is when things got bad. I would get dropped calls or bad reception, even if I was sitting in the same spot withoutmoving.
I sent the phone back for a replacement. The replacement worked just as poorly. A few months after getting the replacement, my screen went black. Since they would not replace it, I went shopping for a new phone (It was cheaper than paying the insurance deductible)
I currently own a Nokia, and I'm very pleased with it! For the longest time I thought it was my carrier causing the dropped calls. It was the phone!
One of the Worst...
I got a little hasty on this one. I wanted a good camera phone, and had just upgraded my fiances, so I bought mine for $150.00. I've had it since January, and I hate it.
PRO'S:
It's small...
Camera is ok
CON'S:
Just about everything else...
Speaker phone, picture cuts in and out at times, redialing can be a pain because the call doesn't always connect. I get a bunch of "call failed" messages.
I have insurance on this phone, but I don't want to call my provided and end up with the same phone again, so I purchased a different brand off of Ebay, so we'll see how that goes.
Motorola V220 is not bad, it's cheap.
I have been reading the reviews and I see that there is alot of disappointment in the phones camera, ring tones, screen, ect. ect.
But then again, what did you expect? Come on people, this phone was offered as free, did you expect a 5 megapixel camera when you bought it? You can't buy a honda civic and expect the performance of a porche. And while I will admit, this phone is a piece of junk, I was partially expecting this type of performance when cingular sent me this so called "upgrade" free in the mail.
