i-mate JAQ3
Cannot compare with todays' line of PPC phones
I've hand 'em all, starting back with the Ipaqs and right up to todays 8525's, Tytns, Treos, etc. This unit is plagued with three major problems....
1. While the form factor may look appealing on paper, this is a very BIG phone. It is unnaturally long, and feels more like a calculator than a phone. Smaller than the brick-like JAQ, but definitely still way too big for my taste.
2. The OMAP processor really, really sucks. The unit gets bogged down at the simplest of tasks. Clicks don't register within an acceptable amount of time, leaving the user to feel like they need to click again and again just to move through the menus and programs. Slow, Slow, Slow.
3. The earpiece speaker is quite weak, and the speakerphone is utterly useless.
I am just as disappointed as everyone else is, because on paper this sure looked like the phone to beat all, but alas, you should save your money and move on.
