Samsung SPH-Z400
Average Ratings
Z-400
This phone is great compared to the Moto IC-902, which I had crash on me twice in 4 months!
Draw backs of the Z-400:::::
The PTT button for the Direct Connect is always getting bumped. The camera could be a bit better, but works good.Should have been made with the "Mini USB" style charger.The alarm will not work when you have no service for the phone.Has no SIM port, or storage device."Beeps" when full charged,,,even if phone is off.
Other than the items listed above, I cant think of anything wrong with this phone. Its very rugged and durable.The Main menu is easy to navigate.The sound quality is good and clear.Connects easily with Blue Tooth items.
This is a great phone.
Poor Direct Connect
Overall the phone is solid and responsive. Battery life was not as good as advertised, but then they never are.
The killer was direct-connect. I got this phone for our shop foreman; he does more direct connect than anyone in the building. Bad choice on my part. Sprint has not worked out the kinks with DC on non IDEN phones. I had gone over the problems 3 times with them without any long-term resolution. They are doing DC over IP and the switching is unreliable at best, totally dead at worst. Sprint just credited me the total price on this phone and didn't even want me to mail it back, that tells me they know itâs worthless.
If you need reliable DC stick to an IDEN phone.
ok phone
The volume is good, even with the speaker phone in a noisy area you can hear it. People at the other end can't tell that you're on a cell phone. Plenty of room in the address book.
The one big con is the battery life. Best case is 24 hours on standby until completely dead. Was told twice the battery was bad and replaced, then the entire phone was replaced. Guess the new one is a little better, 6 hours in standby, a 56 minute call and it was dead. Now being told that this is normal by my provider. All in all, nice phone, just have a charger around if you plan to actually use it.
