Nokia 2600 Classic

Great Phone
This phone is offered free with upgrade or new line at AT&T, or $39.99 for no contract if you don't have insurance. For a free phone its not bad at all. It has good reception, camera, bluetooth, easy to read screen, and a loud ringer. Its also a thin and attractive looking phone.
Had potential, but way too slow
Pros: Bluetooth, familiar Nokia menu system.
Cons: SLOW! Dated Nokia menu system.
For most things, this phone does just fine. Voice quality is usually good but not great (AT&T), the Bluetooth works great in my G35. It's the familiar Nokia menus you already know, and it doesn't try to be a jack of all trades (like many crappy music/camera/web phones out there). Seems sturdy enough. Best feature: the size! It's so slim, it fits comfortably in any pocket.
Unfortunately, many functions require you to hit the Menu button, which causes the phone to "hang" for about 1.5 seconds. This makes the phone awkward to use while walking; that 1.5 seconds can be an eternity! Why can't we have a respectable processor in our phones in the year 2009? I can't believe this got through QA.
My other gripe: some options -- like turning off the noisy animation when turning the phone off or on -- are buried deep in the menus, where you'll never find them.
I paid about $30 for it, used. It was worth it to upgrade from my last plain-jane phone, but I wish I had held out for something better.
Love my little Nokia!
I have had Nokia phones since day one. I love the 2600. Easy to use, simple, decent camera, loud ring. The only downfall is the fact that it's a bit slow.
Excellent reception and call quality! Of all my phones, Nokia always gives me the most bars.
Long battery life!
To sum it up, this is a simple, no frills phone, which you will find very easy to use. Perfect for calls and texting!
Great Free Phone
This is the best free phone I ever used. I am so mad that mine sustained some water damage & I had to have it replaced. The insurance co Assurion replaced it w/a Nokia 6085 which is not as good as this one. The only con for this one for me was the screen scratched easily. Otherwise, it's very stylish (I was particularly fond of the red color) and easy to use. The 10 MB of memory were enough for what I need. I had a red one and my husband had a black one.
2600 Classic
I've owned several Nokia phones in the past, and this one is the worst, hands down, for reception and voice quality.
Since I had good luck with Nokia's in the past, I've remained brand loyal, but unless this phone is defective, it doesn't cast a favorable light on Nokia.
I generally use a cellphone for conversation only, so I am not opining about other features, but honestly, buying this phone was a big regret for me.
