Samsung SCH-R211
Alright phone for a starter/temporary.
I got this phone as a starter with Cricket until I had money to buy a better one, but honestly, I'd have no problem staying with it if I had to.
PROS:
- Battery lasts a day on mine. Not bad for the amount of texting I do.
- Texting is easy, even with the small buttons. T9 sort of sucks (what sort of T9 doesn't include my own name?), but with a little creativity, you can get around that.
- Ringtones are easily downloadable from the internet (myxer.com is a favorite).
- Bright display, if you so choose.
- Fast texting.
- Up key for messaging home.
- Comes with "high/vibrate" setting for incoming calls.
- Durable.
- Three different kinds of clocks for screen.
- Yeah.
CONS:
- When pushing the down key, you're more than likely to push the "clear" key a couple of times, too.
- No picture messaging.
- No camera, but that's to be expected.
- Buttons are really, really loud.
- Phone freaks out and restarts if you try to open an incoming message while it's sending an outgoing one, but no repurcussions.
- Still haven't figured out speakerphone, but haven't really tried, either.
- 150 character messages.
- 70 message capacity in inbox, 30 in outbox.
- On internet, the only typing option is... uh... the one that's not T9.
I have a picture that my boyfriend took on his phone as my background. Since the phone doesn't have picture messaging, this is what I had to do to get that:
1. Send picture to your email.
2. On computer, load picture onto Mocospace account.
3. Get on internet on phone; go to Mocospace account.
4. Go to your pictures. Choose the one you want, select "download," then select third size option.
5. Image is saved in your images (under "browser" tab).
I'm sure there's some other way to do this, but that's just how I did it. Overall the phone gets a 4.5 because I'm in a generous mood. And because that's pretty good for a $15 used phone.
Believe it or not....
I actually like this phone.... For the category it falls in, its a nice phone. This is one i would buy for granny. Its simple, nothing major goes wrong, and its a nice size. Now, if ur a PDA, SMART PHONE, or ANDROID, type of shopper... then u wouldnt even be reading this lol. a phone for granny? YES! A phone for your 10yr old, just to use for emergencies? YES!... A phone for ANY OTHER REASON? NO!!!! lol
