Samsung Axle R311

Menu doesn't work that well. No alerts
Guys, I love Samsung phones, and I love LG phones. But honestly. this phone was annoying. The phone had no alerts after a reminder of a text message, and the menu when launched always found a way to get me into another app, one that WAS NOT specified. Would always launch my aunt (it was her phone) into the camera menu when just MENU was pressed. Got a little tiresome.
I suggest you stay CLEAR away from this phone. You'll regret if you get it. Honestly.
More pluses than minuses
I just traded in a LG phone for this one and overall, I like it much better. I am a LG fan, but the phone I had was like talking to people underwater. This Samsung phone seems to have much better reception, not to mention, it feels like a much more solid phone than the LG.
My only negative at this point is the CONTACTS menu looks like 1st generation computer animation art work, it's a really funky look. Maybe you can write it off as a retro look. . .
Overall Good
I am a U.S. Cellular customer.. I got sick of paying a Blackberry fee so I looked for a simple flip phone.
From my Blackberry Pearl 3130, I switched to the Samsung R311 (I don't call it Axle because it's tacky) ... I only used it for a couple weeks on a 30 day trial - it wasn't a bad phone, my main reason for switching to a silver LG wine instead was the outside color and the camera.
Pros:
- Nice Shape
- Simple
- Nice Keypad, rubber buttons.
- Decent sound quality overall.
Cons:
- The color looks like graphite gray in moderate to dim lighting, which looks good. But when you see this thing in the sun or a lit room it is bright army green - not a bad color .... but it gets old to look at, even after a couple weeks.
- CAMERA ... the pictures are so small and you cannot zoom!!!!
... Like I said, overall a good phone ... I could easily get past the cons but I had an opportunity to switch as it was on a 30 day trial so i took the opp.
... If you are a Samsung fan looking for a basic phone similar to this, go with the two step.
overall decent handset
I personally tested this phone out for a month and found it to be a very durable handset with better then average reception. Functionality was user friendly. It makes a great handset for 1st time users or anyone wanting simplicity with durability. I spend a lot of time out in rural areas and the reception was just as good as my motorola. Battery life was good as I usually made it about 2 to 3 days before recharging. I did find that if I was received an incoming text or mms message while I was sending one out the handset would freeze up, but other then that I liked the performance of this handset. I would recommend it to anyone.
