Awesome NEW Nokia 3711
I couldn't see any flaws in this new one from T-Mobile. Battery life is actually better than stated and 3G works like a charm. It even tethers instantly with Ubuntu linux just instantly by plug and play and instant 3G speeds on my laptop. It uses the $10 internet plan from T-Mobile. The best part of this little gem is that it is $160 + tax full price and uses the newest OS version of the standard OS for standard Nokias and the Text messaging interface was redone to allow all messages for each number to be in its own conversation with chat bubbles similar to adium/iphone(yuck iphone) but it looks beautiful on the nokia. It uses new themes and menu system and also a new Web2GO interface that I have not even seen on newer Web2GO phones. It operates speedy fast and looks beautiful inside and out. Awesome awesome phone! I would recommend this one to anyone!
Good phone for the fm radio and text and phone person in you!
This phone is awesome.
By looking at this phone it seems a good phone for someone that just needs a basic one. Probably my guess is someone older that doesn't need that many special things or a keyboard. Or maybe a teen. Its a good phone and looks really durable.
Great design, but...
I'm very impressed with the design of the 3711. It is small, thin, and stylish, and has a very reassuring heft to it for such a small device.
Unfortunately, I have had numerous problems with this phone. When using the T-Mobile web portal, I am unable to access some of the links without getting an "Upsell to web2go required" warning, even though I already have web2go; I get the same warning when trying to customize the portal's home screen.
Numerous visits and calls to tech support have all left T-Mobile scratching their heads as well. We even swapped out the sim card to another 3711 in the store and encountered the same problem. T-Mobile created a problem ticket for Nokia about the issue, but it remains unresolved as of this moment. And now my micro sd card is locked out with an unknown password, even though I can still access the card on my old phone without a password just fine.
This is all really a shame, as I genuinely think that this phone is one of the better designs that Nokia offers at T-Mobil. And I do feel that the problems are in the firmware of the device. Listen up, Nokia!
