Samsung builds junk - and won't support it
I didn't really care that this phone would not transfer pictures through usb. It is a flip phone that does not require a data plan. The fact that the earset jack does not work is another matter.
I don't mean just on my brand new phone. I went back to the store for a replacement and guess what...that one is no good also. Tried out the demo phone at the store...dead earset jack also. Just in case you are wondering, we tried three earsets that worked in two other phones.
Samsungs' response. "We do not guarantee our products to work with third party accessories." and "Our policy is to repair phones rather than send replacements."
So, I don't know what I will replace this phone with, but it will not be made by Samsung. Please, do not make the same mistake I did.
Too basic for me
I will say the size and weight is great. The keys are user friendly for those with larger hands. However, this not the best choice for me because I lost several features I have grown so accustomed to and frankly took for granted.
The greatest feature lost is Profiles i.e. Normal, Hands free (Car), Loud, etc. Gusto has no profiles. The audio sounds great until I connect to my hands free system then I have to turn it up and if I don't turn it down when I get out, due to the lack of automatic Profile changing, I receive an ear deafening sound the next time I answer my phone. Even at the lowest volume setting the call volume is deafening. The Bluetooth (BT) technology is more like a headset I have to wait 1 - 3 seconds before either end can hear each other. Another minus is I can't send photos I take on a job site via BT (free) I have to email it to my laptop (charged).
I reside in San Diego (SD) CA where hands free is required in vehicles. In addition I am a field service rep so I am constantly in my vehicle going from site to site. I explain this so you understand where I am coming from. My carrier is Verizon and I have had several phones in the SD area plus I used to test cell phones on all major carriers for a living. If all you are looking for is a basic phone and you are hearing impaired this phone is a good choice.

Great phone for texts and phone calls. Always crystal clear whether on a Verizon or roaming network. I recently used the phone in Alaska and it worked great.
I rarely use a cell phone, thus the prepaid option works great for me. Battery life is excellent. The large numbers displayed while dialing make it easy for older folks to use this phone.
The only negative is picture messaging doesn't work.
Samsung Gusto
Just bought this phone at a Wal-Mart in Milpitas, Ca. (San Jose area).
This is a definite upgrade to the Samsung Smooth (U-350). Much better display and is compatible with all my current accessories (micro usb).
I bought it in the prepaid packaging as an upgrade for $18.88 plus tax. They credited me account $10 that came with the phone.
As far as the quality? Much better than it's predecessor (smooth). It feels much more durable and has better display.
This is a must buy.
sweet
Owned the U350 Smooth phone for approximately 8 mos. it was replaced by another phone and given to a family member. I'm finally seeing an update to the phone i loved a lot, but this phone (Gusto) is thinner so has a higher tendency to break in pieces if it's dropped.
It's not a bad phone, I'd consider it for a ton of people, mostly people just starting service with verizon or someone just looking for a simple phone.
looks good and affordable
