Worth waiting for!

Nov 21, 2012 by scolab   updated May 3, 2013

I had a Trophy before, so I'm familiar with the Windows phone, but this is a HUGE upgrade from the Trophy.

Pros:
Gorgeous screen. Yes, even without hi res.
Very loud volume.
Windows Phone 8 is the best OS on a phone, bar none.
IE10 is fast.
Battery life has been excellent.
Reception is good. LTE sucks in my neighborhood.
Super sensitive touchscreen is great.
Camera is really good, but a little slow.

Cons:
Exterior matt finish is very slippery in the hand. I bought an Otterbox, so this is a non-issue for me.
Apps are lacking, but the Store is growing daily.

I would highly recommend you look at this or any Windows Phone!

I have always had Motorola and Samsungs and once I got use to this phone liked it better but having a lot of problems with the ports going bad within 6 months to a year. I am thinking about trying Motorola again. Like Samsungs but they are more money. I buy and sell phones and use this phone scoop a lot.

#1 selling Windows Phone in the U.S.

Sep 23, 2013 by Groover1971

It is no accident that this is the #1 selling Windows Phone in the U.S. The value is hard to beat. We got two of them for free in January. Out of all the Windows Phones with replaceable batteries and expandable memory (810, 820, 822), this one was the only one with 16 GB of memory on board. The screen is amazing, even at 800x480 resolution. The dual core 1.50GHz processor matches all current top end WP8 devices.

The Nokia support can't be overlooked with all of the extra apps and settings only available on Nokia WP8. I haven't had to do without any apps that I wanted. If your holding out for a phone that accesses Instagram, there is even an app for that in WP8.

The battery does require monitoring. I use it all day for everything and try to keep it charged. The wireless charger is very handy to have too. The speaker is not the best but does a decent job.

It has an extra microphone for noise cancellation.

The camera is on par with other 8 MP cameras. The Pro Shot app (available only on Windows Phone) turns it into an awesome fully programmable camera. The dedicated camera button can unlock the phone and have it ready to take a picture in about 3 seconds.

The speed of the phone is the best thing about it. I get so used to doing everything fast and efficiently.

I also have my work emails on it. Its nice to always have Office built in and integrated. Opening an Excel spreadsheet from inside an email is a breeze. I have both work Outlook emails linked to one inbox so checking and transferring my office emails from the shop floor is easy too.

Work Phone on Steriods

Dec 9, 2012 by ctbroncofan

So this is my first review on a phone. Was given this as my new work phone. Previously had a Black Berry Bold, before that the BB 8703. So for 6 years I have had a BB for work. All I have to say is OMG this phone makes my Bold look like a Jitterbug.

I have had it for 4 days, and I can't stop telling everyone I see how much I love this phone. I have had BB, and Android, I have never fallen in love with the I-phone, although I did buy two for my children. So I think I am pretty unbiased.

PROs

Email with Active Sync for corporate email, works like a charm.
MS Lync
Windows Sky drive
Nokia Maps
Nokia Music
Office Suite of products

CONs
Size of App Store - but since this primarily work phone not a big deal, as operating system is around more apps most likely.

OK, so with that being said, I can not say how much I love this phone. I went in to this with the theory that since BB was dying and I needed a solid email device I would go with WIN 8 phone. At the worst it would be a KIN. Was I surprised. Live Tiles are cool, get a little used to but, the Calendar, Maps, Music, Photo Tiles all rock, and pinning what I like to the main screen is cool.
I have gone from a fan of BB for work to a WIN 8 convert. To try to explain how much I love this phone, if it wasn't for losing my unlimited data on my non work phone, I would get rid of my Droid Razr.

So if you are a trendy hipster there is the I-phone, or a Galaxy S III calling your name, but if you are looking for a phone that rocks with email, and is going to be your GPS, Music Player, and Picture and Video Sharing device, you cant go wrong with this phone.

I absolutely love this device, and I am so looking to new Windows Phones in the future.

WP8 is WP7 ON STEROIDS and thats amazing

Dec 8, 2012 by byates81

I've been known as a phone wh()re by all my friends. I change phones monthly if not sooner then that so I have owned them all just about. I've gone through all the Iphones and many Androids (razr maxx, galaxy nexus, droid bionic, droid charge and on and on.
I will start by saying all phones have their own ups and downs (unfairly tho a lot of people don't actually know much about technology and only know what they are stuck on such as the apple lovers that instantly hate anything else, same for android and even windows) because of this alot of phones get undeserved bad reviews

so from someone that has had them all and loves them all in their own abilities here we go

This is a major major step up from wp7
wp7 on its own was a great OS only issue was the missing of many features that other OSes already carried and the lack of many popular apps, but the OS itself was amazing and ran smoother then anything we have ever seen
Now here we go with WP8 most of those missing features have been added many ppl have jumped on board with creating apps for WP now

So with all that said now the phone itself
Although I'd prefer the 920 for the camera and bigger screen I am on Verizon so this was my only option

Pros:
smooth running and amazing OS
great battery life also interchangeable
many great apps and lots more coming
great interactions with other window services such as xbox
nokia music= free streaming and offline listening (cant beat that)
nokia drive is amazing (sold my tomtom)
signal is great with LTE
call volume is perfect
speaker phone nice and loud
camera although not as good as the 920 (but no other phone is either) takes really good pictures with high quality videos front camera also nice and clear
cons:
i still do not like the fact that microsoft doesnt allow u to adjust ringer volume seperate (if watching a video and turn volume down low then ringer will be that low also (you have to remember to turn volume back up when done)
no free wireless charging like 922

Mistake

Dec 4, 2012 by elkdawgg

Had the Samsung S3 and left it for the Nokia 822- Mistake.
Huge Mistake! For 49$ good phone. But for 2 year commitment u will be so dissapointed.
Pro's: Nice Feel, Good Screen, Price.
Cons: BAD Reception, Poor Battery, software, reliability(not to lock up). Voice quality is below average.
I would not recommend this to an adult that relies on their phone for everything. I would wait til they perfect Windows 8 and Nokia throws a higher end phone out. I have complained and Verizon will work on getting me back to Galaxy 3s. If your thinking about letting go of your galaxy s3 or iphone or razr for the nokia 822- DONT.
example: I had 4G with samsung at my condo. The minute i pulled in driveway with nokia i noticed 3G, then a flicker to 1X. Some of my texts were not sending due to no LTE and no 3G. I also noticed the browser was taking forever to load. Painfully slow! I spent the next hour and a half on phone with verizon tech support. No luck fixing issue. They confirmed i was in 4G as well. I could walk outside and occasionally get 4G. Like i said if your cell phone is your lifeline dont invest the 49$.
