Sierra Wireless Voq A11

Awesome text and email phone
I got my Voq phone two weeks ago. Really pleased with the overall experience.
Out of the box, wireless internet didn't work but I figured out that I had to put in my AT&T settings. Worked immediately after.
Browsing the web is awesome, although I find that I don't do it a lot because the pages still aren't well configured for wireless. But GOOGLE is outstanding. You can use websearch in the MYVOq tool and just put your search in without loading Google beforehand.
I get good signal on Cingluar and AT&T.
The battery runs out quick if you keep the backlite on all the time (like me, using games!). Email 9-5 can kill it as well. Need a car charger.
It's way faster and more powerful than my Trio 600 and I can't tell you how much better the typing keyboard is. You pay for it because the device is taller and thicker than the Trio, but I'm willing to sacrifice that since it is lighter and narrower.
ONce I figured out MYVoq, I use it for sending sMS and email all the time. I got Voqmail Prof software running for my work email (took some time with my tech guy but got all the settings in OK) and use POP3 for my earthlink account. I can even get hotmail using the browser.
The buttons are large and easy to press, including when I have my gloves on (cold in the North East!).
I was pissed when I found out it didn't have bluetooth (thougt it did...stupid me) but the headset (included) is OK and I use spekerphone in my truck which works awesome.
I can't believe they don't have a camera. I may have to carry my Treoo just to take the odd pic when I travel (Send to the kids).
Pros -
- typing keyboard best on the market
- awwesome MYVoq tool - superfast searches. Great note taker. SMS is a breeze
- great speakre phone
- Voqmail Prof Ed lets me get thru to Lotus behind our firewall at work
Cons
- Big
- No GRPS wireless data setup already
- No bluetooth!
- No camera!!
This phone rocks!
I have had the VOQ for just over a week, and love it. I found the instruction manual very well written and had my company email, calendar and contacts syncing in no time. To really take advantage of this phone, you need to have Exchange Server 2003. The keypad is very comfortable and easy to use. the speakerphone and voice recorder are nice features, and the VOQ Pro software is far superior to the standard MS Mobile contact search.
The only issues I had were the phone case and the head phone. I wound up using some Apoxy to stick on a swivel Belt Clip (Nokia Style) and I am ordering a new VOQ Earpiece that I can answer calls from the earpiece itself.
Over all, I am very happy with the phone...it rocks!
