Alcatel = OK, if you are not looking for complex.
Carrier: T-Mobile
Pros= Simplicity. This is a VERY simple phone by today's standards. Clinging to the clam-shell style, Alcatel created a phone similar to the Motorola Razr [of which I was a great fan of]. The 768 is useful for someone who wants a scaled down cellular phone and not have to deal with the preponderance of gizmoddy things that today's flat-touch phones offer.
Navigation is similar as is other options like set-up of your main screen and profiles. The Main screen has a vibrant display with a large clock display [which I like as my eyes ain't getting any better]. If you plan your screen image right, you can see the time quite clearly even with out glasses.
The numbers are very large when dialing a call!
There is a head-set option [3.5 jack] which thankfully Alcatel thought it wise the make separate from the mini-usb interface. This is great if you run out of battery and have to charge it while still talking.
Using the earbud /mic fob is useful and clear as is the overall quality of the phone in typical use.
If you are looking for a simple alternative to cellular phones, this is it.
Cons;
The Keypad buttons are difficult to depress. You have to be dead on, in the center to trigger and number or letter.
Typing text messages can be equally problematic. At times I will type a text message and the phone with 'seize' and reboot. No comment from T-mobile as to a individual issue or issue with the phone itself.
Speaker option = scratchy audio at any level.
Bluetooth = garbage. Even with the best unit, I still sound like I am talking in a tin-can or underwater..
Reception is scattered. With my old Razr, I never had reception issues. If this has anything to with the build-in antenna, then Alcatel needs to review the reception strength of this phone.
External Display is too small. The Razr at least had a decent screen to view the time without opening the clam-shell.
All in all, wish it could be better!

A nice phone but...
Carrier: T-Mobile
I am in general pretty happy with the phone. While this not a 'smart phone', it offers a few features that makes it a tag above 'dumb phones'. The display is fairly decent. The buttons are big but it takes a bit of getting used to. For those who are spoiled with the current smart phone features may not like this. For those who just use this phone as an emergency phone and not being married to it, this phone is fun to use. The Bluetooth feature is very nice to have. FM radio, decent camera (2MP), stop watch,calendar/appointment book, unit converter (very limited. Only length and weight), are good to have.
One thing that bothers me is there's no app or any way to make use of the GPS feature, rendering it to be completely useless! T-Mobile support documentation on this is equally useless. There's ONE response to another user's question by T-Mobile expert on this question, but it's totally useless as well.It looks like T-Mobile has edged the legality of false advertisement based on its misleading statement on its website concerning this product. Battery life is relatively short if you use radio and camera frequently. Charging time is average. The speaker phone sound quality is between poor and average.

Powerful Minute Flip Phone
Carrier: T-Mobile
This phone is a sleeper. It works all day long with no battery issues at all. It contains a few Java applets for Weather, News and POP e-mail. It has a micro-SD slot that allows immediate usage of custom ringtones, existing photos and music from your PC. It links immediately with bluetooth devices, allowing you to use your throwback flip phone without showing your old-school tastes to the newbie tweeting world. It is at a great price and with a SIM-adapter, makes a fine addition to anyone looking to talk all day's arsenal.
