Sprint SMS Launch Date ! ! @ @ ! !
Does Anyone know when the official launch date is for the SMS service with Sprint..? I hate having to connect to the web everytime i wanna read a text message..

Only certain handsets will support SMS in the beginning. No word on if software updates will fix this or not.

Launch is set for January!! So far, Samsung A660, Nokia 3588, Sanyo 5400 and 5500. Not sure about a620 or Sanyo 7200. Pretty much all phones released from here on will be capable. Current phones from what we have been told will not have a Software Version to add service.

Sprint Website - "For Your Information, After January 4, when someone sends you a text message (a One-Way Message or a Short Mail), you must use your Sprint Phone to view it (you won't be able to view it here on this website). Of course, you can continue to compose and send text messages from this website or from your Sprint Phone (some older phones cannot send messages)."
