*******THIS PHONE SUCKS I'LL TELL U WHY!**********
After reviewing most of the post on this forum about this phone I have to tell u guys not to get this phone. Especially if you already have a t809. You can flash the t809 to the original version of the phone and use it the way it was ment to be used.
Here's a short list of the benifits of flashing to the D820 which is the real version of the t809:
* Mp3 as ringtone support (no renaming needed)
* No Ascending ringer
* Vibrate and ring simultaneously
* Email client
* Change soft key functions
* Install non-signed java applications ie; opera mini, google maps etc.
* Unlock the phone (use on any carrier)
As you can see there are many benifits that address most of the issues you guys have about the t629. also, the t809/d820 hase 6...

So what you're saying is that only the t809 can be flashed, but not the t629?
I just got a t629 and the t809 is not being sold anymore as far as I know...
If there is a way to install non-signed java applications or change soft key functions on the t629, I would greatly appreciate your 2 cents!

Yup sorry as far as I know there are no flashing options for the 629, funny how U can still get left over samsung e635 in nearly any tmobile store but the t809 slider phone with the option to flash it is misteriously missing less than a year after it's debue. But then I could just be paranoid.https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_ forum.php?fm=m&ff=1048&fi=842404#

LOL BiGg RiE, so with all this info you have do you own both phones? I own both of them an they are both good phones. FOr you to tell people not to buy this phone is silly. For one Tmo dont offer the 809 anymore, so if your lookin for a slider with all the fixings this is your choice at tmo at the moment. Second there are some cosmetics that are different that can be more user friendly, for instance the 809s keypad is no where as easy to message on, the 629 took of sides around key board makin more space for finger movement. Then there is the camera, taking away the swivl camera was prolly the best idea they had on the 629. The swivl on a long term deff looses quality over time,if used alot.
Now im not gonna sit here an say that the 629 is...

Ok CondorMobile your points are noted. Perhaps I should have said why I think you shouldn't get this phone. The main point of my post was to inform those forum users of the fact that had T-Mobile released this phone the way it was ment to be released none of the major issues that the users of the phone had would have been issues at all. In an attempt to inform some people that may not know that if they "DO" have the t809 and are thinking about trading it in, they shouldn't for the aforementioned reason. Further, I'm one of those people who understands how big a business ringtones, wallpapers, and mobile software is, and I think that after you buy a 250-300 phone they shouldn't be trying to get you to pay for every little thingm or limiting t...

They might be both "good," but they are also crippled. If someone was wanting the features which have been blocked out, that's a good reason to not buy it.
Even if it's the best choice of all the crippled t-mobile phones, maybe people don't have to buy a t-mobile phone at all.
