Kind of crazy, isn't it? The Samsung Jitterbug phone has voice dialing, but this one doesn't! 😳

Are you talking about the Cingular feature that still requires you to dial *8 to access it? If so, that's pretty useless IMHO. Most people I know who buy a Bluetooth phone, get one so they can use a headset or hands-free car kit. The idea is to not have to dig the phone out of you pocket or purse to make a call. If you have to look at the phone and dial *8, you may as well dial the number or use speed dial. Why ANY phone would be produced with Bluetooth but not voice dial is beyond me.

I completely agree! However, it would be nice if you could program the Bluetooth headset to autodial *8 when you press in its button... So... instead of activating the phone's voice dial, it "activates" cingular's. I'd get it if that worked. Although $10/month for 2 phones seems rediculous when it is free on a lot of phones.

Well, I just called Cingular and complained about not being able to have my Bluetooth headset initiate an autodial to *8. She was nice and understood my complaint and stated she'd submit it. Whatever.
I'd actually begrudgingly pay the $9.98/month for the service on 2 phones if I could autodial *8 with my BT headset.
Lame...

Yeah..I just don't get it. I'm in the same boat with my next phone. I really like the Sony Ericsson W300 but it doesn't have voice dial. I'll have to get the more expensive W810i to be able to initialize a call from a Bluetooth headset. I know the W810i is probably a better phone, but I just have a thing for filp phones. I would love to have a conversation wit...

If you intend to always use Voice Connect, why can't you dial it once on your phone manually using *8 and then always use the redial feature on the headset. (On my headset, I just press the button for 2 seconds to initiate a redial of the last number.) Since the last number should always be *8, wouldn't this do as you like?

A work-around for the bad design is to call *8 before you get in the car and then use the bluetooth double tap to call the last number.
Its sad that you have to do something as off the wall as this but it is the best way I've found so far to use Voice Connect and not fumble with my phone while driving.
