Nokia E71 / E71x

I know that Nokias manufactured in various places apparently have varying build qualities and just purchased an e71x which has a 7th and 8th IMEI digit of "02". From what I have found, this phone appears to have been manufactured in the Emirates and is considered "very bad" quality.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct and if you may have an e71x manufactured elsewhere? Is the one I have really that bad? Should I sell it and "try again"? Thoughts???

Also, when I enter the number here http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis& sub=imeinr....it cant find any info on the phone. Is this bad?

In Contacts, you can add a Birthday and it will show up under an individuals name. Is there a way to see all of those birthdays on the calender???

How do I clear the content in the phone and go back to the factory settings? Thanks.

I have an e71x and am trying to install some programs. I could install x-plore fine but when i try to install a signed version of helloOX v1.04 i get a certificate error. I have turned off the online certificate check and allow installations is set to all. Can anyone please help? sorry im a noob and thanks for your time

My wife got the BlackBerry 8900. The one feature that it has that I wish the e71x had, is the Beside Mode. OMG! It's awesome!

Do you know how we can get something like that for the e71x?

Is it possible to use VoIP even with GPRS instead of just WLAN? My E71 comes with the Gizmo VoIP application but I can't seem to get it running with GPRS... I want to be able to make free long distance calls even when I'm... Does anyone know anything about this?

I dropped my e71x in a parking deck. (Until I get a new case, I promise to maintain a death grip on this baby.) The deck floor was less than smooth. My phone landed face down and now has some ugly nicks. 👿 Because the screen is nearly flush, the screen suffered a tiny scratch in the upper left corner where the original screen cover had started to peel away. Upon the closest of inspections, the screen appears to be slightly raised along the upper edge (the defective e71x I exchanged was the same way) and I worry that any screen protector I buy will start to peel away. Any recommendations?

I tried to download/install a few different apps for Twitter lastnight, and each time they would download then fail the install. What gives? I really want the twibble client!

Anybody who buys an E71x needs to go into their settings > connection > packet data > packet data connection, and change it from "when available" to "when needed." I don't know why at&t constantly does this with Nokia's smartphones, but they do. I know some people complained about battery life of the phone not being what they thought, at least from reading reviews on at&t's website. That packet data connection constantly being live will eat your battery up. I'm sure most of you on this forum know that already, but for the n00bs out there, take note of this. I'm the proud owner of an unlocked E71, the way it was intended, and I can't stand people talking down about this phone over stupid things that at&t does like this.

When I set the menu theme to horseshoe or v-shape the menu moves so slow it's pretty much not usable. List or grid theme works fine. Does anyone else have this problem?

When I put a contact on my speed dial list, their name no longer appears when they call, just their number. Before they were on my speed dial list, their name always appeared when they called. Does anybody know the reason for this and how to fix it? Thanks

both are $99.99 so i have no idea which one to get. is symbian or windows mobile better in your opinion? and which one has a wider variety of apps to choose from?

I like my e71x... I really do. I'm on my second one. AT&T exchanged the phone after I let them feel how hot it was getting after short phone calls. This morning, I got a new surprise. Before I walked in to work, I used the power button to set the profile to Meeting like I do every day. I then pressed the power button again to lock the keys so I could put it in my pocket (like I often do), but I'm not getting a menu any more. Crap...

I've also had an intermittent problem with the phone telling me that there are no contacts in the phone book contents of my phone memory.

I've never had trouble like this out of any Nokia I've owned... I wish I had my data cable with me at work so I could check for updates. ☹️

I've had my E71x for about a week now, and I am really disappointed in the call volume.

I have the volume at its highest setting, and while on a call outside yesterday (in NYC) I had one finger in my other ear and was pressing the phone very hard against my other ear.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it possible I have a dud?

when i have exchange email on my phone, it get pretty warm, and stays that way. Defective phone?

So i opted to upgrade when att picked up the e71... Really liked the black, got it for $100, needed a new sim anyway. I had to return the first phone inside of 30 minutes. I didnt notice it in the (loud) store but the keypad had an awful creak along the entire top cluster of keys- dpad, soft keys, shortcut keys- ive had my current phone for almost a week and plan on returning it as well. Its developed several keypad creaks and i just cant ignore it. I was fully aware that the 'x' is mftd in Korea and not Finland. Same thing with a couple of other 'NAM' nokias. I just didnt want to believe that it would be that different. It is. Ill prob get a blackberry *sigh* and definitely buy an unlocked e71. Buyer beware.

Does anyone know what the flashing light around the D-pad means, last night it was flashing at times then it sometimes also fades on and off, kinda like the HTC Fuze does when its charging. I have no idea what it means ???

What is the actual supposed to do to remove the back?

I push one side across and one side pops up, then do the opposite and it kinda comes loose. Then I pull up and wiggle while pulling down and it comes off, with a lot of force. Surely thats not the right way.

-I currently have a Treo 650 and recently got a new laptop with Vista 64 operating system and I found out that my Treo will not sync with it.

-Does the Nokia come with a desktop version to sync notes,contacts,calender? Not sure how that works.
-Is the speaker phone loud? I like loud speaker phones. Is the standard phone speaker loud? Should mention I drive a convertable.
-My Treo never did get loud enough.
