Nokia E71 / E71x

I went to my local AT&T store yesterday and the salesperson didn't know what phone I was talking about. They had them in the back and didn't have a display out!!!

Then he ran my info and told me it was $199 without a data plan (which I DON'T want). If I got a data plan, I would get $50 instant rebate to drop the price to $149 and I'd get a mail-in rebate for another $50. I left the store because everything I saw online stated it was $149 before the mail-in rebate. I checked the AT&T site last night and the phone seems to be $149 WITHOUT a data plan. So I guess I'll be ordering it online!

Why can't I select a ringtone that is larger than 300kb? I can play any size song on the phone so why can't I select any song as a ringtone? Pretty lame.

does this phone have any programs to create documents or even powerpoints? and also can u sync this with some program on the computer? haha im not too familiar with the symbian

I've read on one blog that the E71-2 has trouble staying on 3G and HSDPA on AT&T in the US. Anyone here have a e71-2 and live in a 3g area with knowledge about this?

I am having difficulties setting ringtones and pictures to specific contacts. The only way I have gotten it to work is to delete the contact off of the sim card all together. Is there something I'm missing or a work-around?

Is E71x wi-fi capability limited to only AT&T wi-fi spots? Or can it be used with home WLAN network?

Considering purchasing this phone for work, but I frequently travel internationally (Europe, Caribbean, Central/South America, Canada).

Has anyone used this phone abroad? What were the pros/cons?

The E71x is available from attwireless.com, but is it available from any retailers? I've been told that Best Buy will carry the phone at some point, but no one seems to know when. I'm not going to pay for the data plan (at least not at first) and I don't want to fool with a mail-in rebate. If you buy it at a retailer like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc, you normally get the after-rebate price up front. But do you know of any retailers already carrying the phone?

I've heard since this a unlocked phone that its only 15 bucks a month for unlimited internet instead of the 30 bucks a month that they would make you pay for a smart phone to have internet if anyone can let me know if this is true that would be great thanks.

I just bought an E71 from Best Buy Mobile today and I was wondering if there's anyway to lock the phone quicker then pressing the power button and pressing lock keypad. If someone can help me with that that would be great thanks.

Just purchased the E71 and have been very disappointed in the poor quality of the images on the web browser. Most pictures are displayed with hardly any color at all. Is there a setting that needs to be changed? Love the phone otherwise. Thanks!

I'm switching from an iPhone 3G and trading it to someone for an E71. I was wondering (and hoping) if it syncs (contacts, calenders, etc) with Macs.

How do you cut and paste on the E71-2? If anyone can help me that would be great thanks a bunch in advance.

plottin on gettin one of these, was curious if it is limited to 160 characters on text and if so does anyone no a workaround? ...besides typing short sms all the time.

Is there a way to check how much batter life is left like you could on the the blackberry curves where it showed the percentage left of power left on the battery. If anyone knows that would be great thanks.

I saw that the E71 has a CDMA band radio, so I presume this means it will work on the US Verizon network.

*How do you activate it on Verizon (since none of my Verizon phones has had a SIM chip)?

*Does Verizon require you to have an unlimited data plan with it?

*Can you use it to tether to laptop as a cell modem on Verizon (technically and legally)?
