Motorola Droid Maxx
Please tell me for once mobile hotspot works on these new moto devices?
I've owned the RAZR, RAZR MAXX and RAZR MAXX HD and not one of them functioned properly with mobile hotspot. Devices could connect to them every time, but couldn't connect to the internet / transfer data most of the time and if they could, usually it was so slow it was unusable. Maybe 15%-20% of the time it functioned properly, the other 80%, useless.
I'm REALLY hoping this has been fixed in the new line of Moto's. I can't believe it's gone on for so long without a fix.
And it wasn't just my moto devices, I have friends and family with these devices as well, tried it on theirs; same problem.

Verizon charges extra for data tethering. I think that's the reazon why you're not able to use them as mobile hotspot (if you have an unlimited data plan)
I've used the Droid Razr HD for tethering here in my country, default ROM, with tho problems (over GSM network)
I think that it just lacks carrier support.

Verizon does charge more, but there are also several apps that don't require root to enable hotspot for free. I'm using one on my current samsung and it works fine.
Regardless on all previous phones I've had (RAZR, RAZR Maxx and RAZR Maxx HD) I've tried it both the app route and the route of actually paying verizon an additional $30/month on top of my grandfathered unlimited data plan...didn't work right on ANY of these devices.
It's why I switched to Samsung, I'm just hoping with these new sets, partially designed by Google this go around, that it will actually work as I'd like to move back to Moto.

A) its not the app...unless the included Verizon mobile hotspot app is the one your referring to.
Foxfi has never worked for me for free WiFi hotspot. Not sure why it always gets recommended.

B) I can't afford to go share everything...last month alone I used 17gbs...work that out for monthly cost on share everything; its absurd.

How do you like your new maxx? I'm thinking ofreturning my galaxy s4 for it ..it's a tough decision Im coming from a razr maxx so I got used to the good battery life

Love it so far...only issue is Verizon (intentionally) broke portable WiFi hotspot from working (it enabled the hotspot for free without having to root).
That and with volume up it emits a loud zap when you put it on a wireless charger...wish it didn't as I need to allow my phone to ring when I'm sleeping (can't silence it; work) but the loud zap wakes the wife. Bad thinking on Moto's part there.
Otherwise good. I had the s4 and aside from s health this is a 100% better phone.

i currently have the galaxy s4 and the specs on paper are amazing but it's pretty laggy. but i do love that it controls all my tvs at my house and of course the sd slot which houses my 32g card. but the battery life is whats driving me to take it back for the droid maxx. i wish the maxx was really 8 cores then i wouldnt feel left out when comparing to other high end devices. but im getting the droid maxx for only 200 bucks from best buy mobile thanks to wirefly offering it for only 200 and best buy price matches.. is your maxx really fast and not laggy at all? i upgraded from a droid razr maxx and my battery life on that one was about 15 hours a day in real life.... im guessing the droid maxx will last at least 20 hours before having to cha...

I love mine. I was torn between the S4 and the MAXX but my battery nightmares on my S3 coupled with the build quality on the MAXX made the decision easy. I have charged it once on Tuesday and haven't plugged it in since. It is freakishly fast, and I have been able to tweak everything I need to in order to make it work properly and not have any of the annoying sounds.
It is also a very pure android device...other than the verizon bloatware (that can be disabled). No annoying overlays like Blur, Touchwiz, or Sense (not to ...
