What is this on the picture?
From the pictures of the VX8000, it looks there is a
moveable switch around the camera's lens.
Does anyone know what this is used for?

The switch that you see on the phone in the picture is more or less a "zoom" switch. Switching between the two allows you to take better pictures either close up, or farther away, depending on what it is set to. Hope this answers your question. 🙂

i would believe its more logical to put the macro mode as an option on the phone.. not a switch...digital cameras dont have a macro mode switch, rather a macro mode setting. maybe that lil switch is a lens cover? just like the LG 6100

Another site that had closer, more detailed pictures of the phone revealed the traditional flower (representing micro mode) and group of people (representing macro mode) icons for the switch. Also, I agree that the phone would have a setting for those mode, but the switch that just happens to be located near the lens activates the mode, and does not alter the actual lens in any way. That's my take. 🙂
