VZW released the Kyocera Koi on the west coast? (30,000 units shipped to the west coast?)

Is this true or another one of these stupid rumors!? 😕

I love VZW service, but their phone release schedules suck. They say that they take a long time testing the phones to make sure that they release "bug-free phones", but then they turn around and release the Moto V710. A real piece of crap.

Hurry up VZW and release the KOI so I can stop bitching about this!!!! 😉

The tentative US Cellular release date for the Koi is now November 24th. The stores should have them in stock on or near that date.

The Koi has passed US Cellular testing and will be released from the NDC mid-to late November.

I am wondering about the quality of the 1+ megapixel cameras these phones have, as well as the quality of the flash. First of all, is this good enough quality to take clear 5x7 size pictures that would only be used on the computer typically anyways? Also, does the flash work as well as on a normal camera? I am asking becuase I want a decent digital camera to have for everyday quick shots (friends, etc.) and if this is good enough I would love to not have to carry around/buy two things. Finally, is there a direct connect to the computer, as well as software, with any of these phones? Thanks for any help.

I currently have Nextel, and of course a Motorola phone. My contract is up and I am seriously thinking about switching to Verizon. I get really spotty reception, and I really don't use the direct connect feature. Also, although the phone is OKAY, it is pretty thick, not really user friendly, and might as well have no features. My last service provider was with Sprint PCS and I had the Kyocera QCP-3035. I got good reception with it, was a good slim size, was pretty sturdy, and of course it had a lot of useful features. But after doing some online research about Kyocera in general, the most major complaint was about the battery. Today VZW just had their Vendor Fair that i attended to and they have allot of new phones coming out just by the end of this year !! But the one that caught my eye is the Koi of which i was assured is coming out for VZW (WHICH I WORK FOR AS WELL) And the rep for Kyocera told me that they are shooting for November 2004 date if possible so keep on the look out for more info on it coming soon ! 😎 ..........

And lastly cause i know someone might ask they did not disclose the price but they said it might be some where around the $250 area on a 2yr agreement with a mail in rebate. So i hope that helps out some.........LATE

PC world wrote an article about this phone because they had the opportunity to test it. The author said that this was an overall good phone with good features that worked well and the camera was very good. But he mentioned that the battery was very poor; after taking only a couple pictures it became very low. So they said its overall very good, but they need a stronger battery that will last a lot longer.

Hi...I currently have U.S. cellular as a carriar (i know...not the best phones in the world) but they are recieving a new shipment of phones for the holidays. These phones are the MOTOROLA V710, MOTOROLA V262, KYOCERA KOI, KYOCERA SOHO, and the NOKIA 6019i. I would really like a camera phone, and the only two camera phones are the Moto v710 (which the reviews arent great for..and its a little on the hefty size), and the Kyocera Koi. My only problems with the Kyocera are that the phone might be a little flimzy (unstable)after a few months. And that the screen is on the outside (so it might get scratched). I currently own the Kyocera Slider, it has become very flimzy...and the screen is hardly visible anymore. If you have any information ...

This morning an inventory manager visited my store and with him was the new Kyocera Koi. The phone should be released in conjunction with the Motorola V710 sometime in the month of November. He did not have a price for the phone but as soon as I hear it I will pass it along.

I did not have much time with the phone but I will say I was very impressed. When I receive a test model I will give my report on it's abilities.

This model is in product testing right now. It should be in Agent testing by October with a tentative release date of late November/early December. This of course can change but I suspect Kyocera would love for this phone to be out by Christmas.

Anyone see the current Kyocera commercial out, featuring the Koi? It shows it swiveling. And just says some blah blah on how Kyocera is up and coming in the market. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else saw it. BTW, my rep says October for the phone, but he did not have any price quotes for me ☹️
