Saw it at Best Buy - Didn't buy it

Called my local Best Buy in Emeryville CA yesterday and asked about the 6256i, and of course they knew nothing about it. But when I gave them the sku # and asked them to look it up, lo and behold they found 5 under the counter. So I went in to check it out, and it seems okay, but frankly a bit outdated. It wasn't programmed so I couldn't try out call quality, but the interior screen is definitely not as sharp as the 8100, 815, 950 etc, as the specs suggest. The camera quality seemed fair, but again the spec (VGA) is behind the competition (1.3 MP). The Verizon branded box and owners manual clearly state full bluetooth capability (which the sales rep didn't quite believe). The size, feel, and qulity of the phone are nice. The price is 2...

Let's Talk or WireFly Purchase?

Has anyone bought a phone from either of these sites? I note that proceeds support this site and that, with 2 year contract, the 6256i is $49.99. (They are back ordered and expect to have them 11/23.) What is the cost at Best Buy with 2 years? Of course, if I don't like the phone it's easier to return to Best Buy and that's worth something.

Radio Shack shows it in stores on their website now...

Just FYI - Called some RS's in the area here in Oregon and none of them actually had it though according to radioshack.com they should.

6256i contact list limit - can someone please verify?

I was reading the 6256i user guide on the Nokia site (different than the user guide on Verizon's site by the way), and it says the 6256i has a limit of 500 contacts. Phonescoop says the the contact list uses shared memory, which to me means as many contacts (synched with Outlook in my case) that can be held in memory.

Can someone give a definitive answer? This is a major factor for me.

Thanks

Just bought the 6256i for Verizon at Best Buy!

Just an FYI, our local Best Buy just got these in today according to the person I bought it from and they went fast, I just bought the last one.

Details:

$249.99 retail without a contract

$99 with a contract

You also get a rebate for either a $30 Best Buy gift card or a free bluetooth headset.

I have yet to turn it on, I'm being anal; you know, charging it for 24 hours before using it and all...So tomorrow night I'll know if bluetooth really is crippled on it or not.

Strictly speaking of the physical design, not bad...not flashy either though and the portion of the flip that the screens are on is really thick, more so than I've seen on other flips. Seems pretty solid overall. Can't wait to start using it and ditch my v710 ...

6256i from BB / Keep Same Phone #???

Hey All,

I'm thinking about trying to get the 6256i from my local BB (if VZW really doesn't get it in at their own stores), but am wondering whether I'd be able to keep my same phone number (which I like... a lot!).

Anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

Lexus or Prius Bluetooth Working?

Has anyone had a chance to see if the Bluetooth works on a Lexus or Prius yet?

It "should".

BT Compatibility, Palm Tungsten E2 or Infiniti?

I am considering buying this phone. Anyone with experience with it's compatibility with a Palm Tungsten E2 or an Infiniti M35?

BTW, I stopped into the donwtown Philly VZW store today and the person behind the counter knew nothing about the phone. She thought that they might get them in January (2006, I assume). If not in by the end of this month I may just kiss my NE2 goodbye and get the phone at Best Buy.

Indirect only

Take my information for what it's worth, but I just got confirmation from internal sources that this phone will only be sold through indirect stores. I'm not sure if this means only through Best Buy and the Noki website or if smaller indirect retailers will get it, but don't count on VZW carrying it in their stores.

Question About Contacts

My phone number is area code 631. When someone calls me from a number also in area code 631, their number is displayed with area code 631. All local calling numbers (same area code) are listed in my contacts without area code. When those people call my phone their number is displayed (with area code) Because the incoming number displays the area code it does not match the name in my phone book. How can I change this? Will I have to add an area code to every number in my phonebook, even though we share the same area code, just so I can have their name displayed when they call? Is there a workaround for this?

6256i - compatible chargers

I have an older ACP-7U charger from a previous Nokia phone. Anyone know if it's safe to use with the 6256i? Nokia's website says The ACP-7U is compatible with the 6255i, so I'm assuming it's OK to use.

You can buy 6256i on Nokia Website

You can now buy a 6256i on Nokia Website.

I would think in a few days all Radio-Shacks and Best Buys will have them.

I think it is sad that the phone has been delayed. so many times for VZW and USCC. To Those that have been upset, this phone is like Heinz ketchup.

GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE THAT WAIT!!

OBEX in Nokia 6256i

Below is a PhoneScoop excerpt from the "Features" for the Nokia 6256i, listing those BlueTooth features that are supported with the phone.

QUESTION: Which of those items is OBEX (Object Exchange) or functions like OBEX? (Allowing you to transfer photo/etc files from camera via BlueTooth to BlueTooth iMac)

Bluetooth
version 1.1 / supports Headset, Handsfree, Object Push, Generic Access, File Transfer, and Serial Port profiles

6256i mini review in Verizon forum but here is more from today !

Okay so after spending 2 days with it, here is some more.

The talk time is astounding.. I got 3 hours and 35 minutes yesterday with Blue tooth turned on as well.. Holly smokes, I have never seen a phone get talk time like this.

I started to use the goto button tonight and reconfigured the goto list.. It's very cool. You can make the list have anything you want so things are easy to get to.

Answering the phone closed with speakerphone is turning out to be nice.

The outside display is great. It has lots of icons and graphics are very good. You can put pictures there etc.. You can also see it when the light is off. The LCD is very nice.

Button feel is superb. You can really feel the key when you press it and you can dial however ...

6256i Display: A question

Below is the information for the Nokia 6256i Main Display:

Display

Type: LCD (Color TFT/TFD)
Colors: 65,536 (16-bit)
Size: 128 x 160 pixels
TFT

I lack experience seeing many many phones and knowing what such displays look like, so my question is: What does a 128 x 160 pixel, 16-bit color look like in comparison to a 176 x 220, 18-bit color display?

Nokia packed so many features into this phone, I am wondering why they went "smaller" on the display.... but maybe I need some enlightenment on this issue of evaluating displays. Please.

Nokia 6256i is "Available" according to Nokia website

The Nokia 6256i has been taken off the "Expected Soon" page on the Nokia Website.

It is listed as being available from Best Buy and Radio Shack.

Has anyone seen it in stores yet?

Any Hint at Release!

😲 Anyone have a hint at release by Verizon in store? It would be nice becuase I am getting more and more frustrated with the treo 650- on my third one now and the reception and dropped calls still occur. 🙄

"Only in Stores: Available at Best Buy, Radio Shack"

I went to the Nokia website and saw a photo of the Nokia 6245i with the red arrow and Verizon brand on it. Then in another part of the page, these words:

"Only in stores
Available from:
Best Buy, Radio Shack"

So does this mean that they will not be going to the Verizon Stores and must be bought only at Best Buy and Radio Shack? I don't like that.
