6256i questions
"Disconnect the charger from phone when the indicator bar stops scrolling."
After that I went through my User Manual again for bits of information, and then checked out the Quick Reference Guide. Previously I had watched part of the CD but when I saw that it was simply a mentioning of things rather than an explaining of them, I ejected the CD.
Tonight while reading that Quick Reference Guide about charging, I found the answer to my earlier question about how one knows when the phone has...

They gave me very little trouble at Cellular South on the exchange, but my concern now is that my warranty did not reset when I've had the phone replaced, meaning that it runs out in a few months. I am just a bit nervous that I'll find myself stuck having to eat the cost of my next replacement.
Anyhow, all in all I still love the phone-- it is without question the most feature rich CDMA handset available today-- else I would have opted to get some other phone rather than a new 6255i.
Has anyone else had a frozen key p...

Transferring GRADIENT file from iMac to my GRAPHICS folder in 6256i
I downloaded some wallpaper at a site I listed in this forum. The author made wallpaper for the large and small screen. No pictures, just gradients of colors, and quite eye-catching.
I'm figuring that the way to be able to use one of his wallpapers is to:
1 upload that particular gradient file (.png file) via BlueTooth to my 6256i. Would .png files be accepted?
2 put that uploaded file into GRAPHICS folder
3 select that gradient image for wallpaper
Is that all there is? I do not have the Nokia PC Suite bc I use an iMac, and Nokia does not for iMac.
I won't do it right now bc I fear that something could mess up the 6256i. I basically seek assurance that this is not only possible, but ...

gradients made for the Nokia 6256i
At this site you can download what the author calls GRADIENTS. They are wallpapers for the big and little display. No pictures, bc he says that pictures distract from the words, but colors... gradients of colors.
I downloaded the whole shebang but have not a clue how to get them into my phone to use. Beyond that, I am not entirely sure that I want to do it bc I fear that this would somehow be against a warranty bla bla bla bla bla.......

Questions
1) If I stick the antenna in my ear, will I hear better?
2) Which finger do I use to press the buttons?
3) Are there different kinds of cell phones?
4) I've heard of some company called Verizon - who are they?
5) And lastly, does my mouth need to be near the microphone when I talk?
Thanks so much!

Bluetooth icon not showing on my iMac Control Panel
I had to remove the BlueTooth adapter to make room for my scanner USB connection. Then this morning I removed the scanner cord and plugged the BlueTooth adapter back in, and now 😲 there is NO BLUETOOTH ICON SHOWING in the Control Panel. I tried turning the iMac off and turning it on again, but no BlueTooth icon shows.
I have removed the BLUETOOTH adapter before and the icon always showed up in the Control Panel when I stuck the adapter back into the port.
Any thoughts on this? I am beginning to wonder if it's a computer problem but I don't want to go that far unless and until I know for sure it is ...

Tips Not Found In The User Manual(s): #1
WHEN MAKING A VOICE DIAL CALL FROM YOUR BLUETOOTH EARBUD:
1. Your phone has to be in Standby mode. I failed many times before I was told this by the Nokia rep at the Experience Center.
2. Depress and hold the Call button on the BlueTooth earbud. There will be 3 sound prompts. After the third sound prompt (a quick, short series of whimsical sounding high notes), take your finger off the Call button of your BlueTooth earbud and say the Voice Dial name.

Charging the 6256i (User Manual is vague.)
However, today, after using the phone and experimenting with Voice Mail (which I still am confused about), I noticed that the battery power was low so I connected the charger to the phone. This time, even though the outer display reads "low battery," there are NO moving vertical bars showing....... and therefore I do not know when to disconnect the charger.
Help, ple...

functions Mp3's and voice dialing caller id's
1. does the verizon version have an MP3 player? I know it wont play mp3's as ring tones but does it have a mp3 player other than that?
2. How is the voice dialing? Is it as simple as hit a button and say a name then it dials or is it hit a button then say dial then say a name then say yes then it dials.
3. Can you assign names to numbers so when that person calls it will show the name on the outside display and not the number?
4. Can you verify you can answer calls w/ in speaker mode w/ the clam closed.
Thanks!
My 6256i arrived via FedEx today! I love this phone!
Once home I paired the BlueTooth with my iMac-- a very quick process! I had some trouble with file transfers because I did not realize that the little beep meant for me to look at my phone and reply to the question. After one failure to connect, I glanced at my phone and saw the question, clicked YES, and the file transfer from my iMac to my phone was done.
All this...

Memory Card Question
Can I lock the external volume keys?
6256i available at Radio Shack
With qualifying 2-year agreement. $259.99 without.
I've used the OBEX functionality to transfer some files from my BT laptop to the phone.
I've yet to get an MP3 to work as a ringtone, but that may be because it's too big.
It's not a bad phone, but I think I'll be returning mine.
The call quality is very good, as is the sensitivity (It gets good signals in areas where my LG4400 did not). There are some little things that bother me, so it's on to something else.
How to make BlueTooth connection between iMac & 6256i?
Question: What are the steps for pairing up the BlueTooth in the phone with my BlueTooth (by adapter) iMac? I see a BlueTooth folder in the iMac hard drive.
Which device do I start with? Do I open up the BlueTooth iMac folder first and have it "find" the 6256i or do I access the BlueTooth in the phone and have it "find" the BlueTooth iMac?
Are there instructions anywhere?
I have never had a BlueTooth anything before. Just recently I bought a BlueTooth adapter dongle from the Apple Store. I did stick it into the iMac USB port and I do see the BlueTooth icon up in the control panel. Well, now it is a BlueTooth icon with a line drawn through it because I took th...
