Does speaker phone eat battery?

I just read a review that stated that the speaker phone will consume batter juice faster than normal mode.

True of False?

If true, at what magnitude faster- roughly?

From the posts I've read, if you have the PTT it will use more battery. I have the VX4650, not a PTT and I go for 3 days with light use (1/2 to 3/4 hrs. talk time) to 4 full days with little or no use.
