Unbranded V360 trouble: what to do?!

I just bought an unbranded V360, and am wondering if anyone else is having the same problems I am.

First, it appears that the phone doesn't understand Message Waiting Indicator updates. Instead of having the MWI appear and disappear when I receive and check voicemail, I get empty text messages from "_@" and "@", respectively. So obnoxious! 😡

Also, though the manual says that the phone can auto-update its date & time, the menu option to enable it is missing.

Finally, sometimes when I press send to make a call, the phone will say "Calling...", but never connect the call. Generally, a reboot fixes it; not sure whether this is the phone or the network.

Anyone know about these problems? Anyone had a better experience with an un...

😢 I had the same issue with my phone. It's actually just the fact that it's a Moto phone.. Moto's have that issue.. If you do a "warrenty" replacement with your carrier, it should fix the problem..

I too bought an unlocked V360 on e-Bay and the only problem I have is the Autoupdate is not available. I contacted Motorola to make sure I did not have a defective phone and there response "Regarding your concern, it is possible that if the phone is unlocked some features might not be available due to a generic software version being used on the phone." I inquired about getting the software updated but have not had a response. I really like the phone, but I really miss the Autoupdate. I've gotten used to not wearing a watch since my cell phone always had the correct time (Motorola V220) even when I crossed time zones. If I find out anything from Motorola I will post information.

A carrier is usually not going to replace a phone that did not come from them. If it's unbranded, he will have a difficult time getting a replacement except through the place where he got it from, or directly from Motorola.

The best thing to do is call Motorola. Although getting the Euro model repaired it tough. I talked to Moto services techs last month and they told me the hardware differences make it impossible for them to flash with a US flash/flex. He said they had 3 there trying to figure out what to do. I was surprised to hear that. You'd think Motorola factory service could fix any phone. Luckily my problem was resolved without sending it in.

I bought a 3 year extended warranty on mine. If they can't fix it I get a new one and if it breaks during the first 6 months I get a new one. An extended warranty is definitely worth it on an unbranded phone.
