UTStarcom PPC-6700 / XV-6700 / HTC Apache

Ill look into it friday when im back at work. I know thye new blackberry 7130E we are goin to offer in less then 2 weeks has evdo that you can use as a modem...its an extrra 30 to use as modem.

Wow, that looks awesome! Thanks for posting silverdale! I was going to get the new blackberry, but i am not that impressed with the small keyboard. When can I get my hands on this phone? And do you have a cost yet?

I never bothered to look into when its coming out or price. Ill look when I get back into work and post the info.

Well, you would be pretty amazing if you could find out an actual release date, but I could really care less about the price at this point. I'll tell you right now I've heard them all. First it was 11/7, then it was 11/21, and now I'm hearing everything from 11/28 to 1st Quarter sometime. Many people in this and other forums are saying that they have info that suggests Verizon will not release the XV6700 until after the Treo 700w launches.

I won't even get into how ridiculous I think that would be.

silverdale, can you also tell me what the differences between this phone and the HTC Wizard is, and if Verizon will be getting that?

Wow, interesting question. No, Verizon will never get the Wizard, unless of course they revamp their entire network to GSM.

The primary differences not mentioned in the following link, are a slower processor for the Wizard, and Edge(slower) vs. EV-DO(faster). The keyboards are pretty different as well, button size, etc...

Ive looked thru the infomation and cant come up with a date...just a coming soon..which doesnt help a soul.

Only thing new is people with the 7250BB , 9800 and 8100 LG can now use their phones as modems...just have to get a store rep to add the 15 or 30 dollar add on. It was meant for business customers but there is always a rep that dont have a clue and will add it to anyones account hehe.

I'm told not to expect this before Christmas.

Maybe late January, no real idea though. I think some of this fuss over RIM and their Blackberries has a hand in this...

Believe me, we've heard it all. I spoke to my biz rep yesterday, and she said it would be out before Christmas. I don't think anyone really knows for sure, but this was uploaded yesterday at 8:30am to VZW's cache:

This doesn't really mean anything considering the 700w is also in VZW's cache, and we all know that won't be out until Jan/Feb.

I think he meant roaming agreement. They dont share anything..just towers.

Yeah, I did some research and you're right about the roaming agreement. I also found that apparently a year ago VZW and Alltel had an agreement to allow sharing of multimedia between their networks. Who knows?
