Does this allow you to link a speed dial number to your stored contact phone numbers? I currently have the old Samsung i500 and I can link up to 99 phone numbers to speed dial (not to mention 30 to voicedial)

Yes, the xv6700 has a very easy set up for speed dial and if you purchase the Microsoft Voice Command program (under $50) you can just speek the name of any contact and it will dial. (Along with asking the battery status, time, day, or you can even tell it to open a program or just show a contacts info)!

You have to buy an additional software package to use voice command on the xv6700?? 😲 All that money and you lose that option thats sad. i have a motorala now, that cost pennies in comparision to the 6700 and i have that option. But yet i still consider the 6700.

im torn, lol... 😢 😢 😡 😡 😁

I found the software update at vzw.com

Its tricky to find it so here is step by step (there might be an easier way but this is all I know of.

*Go to vzw.com
*Sign in with account information
*From 'ACCOUNT OVERVIEW' scroll to bottom of page
*Under Subject 'MY PHONE' choose 'PHONE/DEVICE SUPPORT'
*In drop down menu choose 'Verizon Wireless' as the 'phone/device brand'
*Choose the XV6700
*Scroll to bottom of screen, under 'DOWNLOADS' choose 'XV6700 SOFTWARE UPDATES'

I have not personally installed this update on my phone as of yet. I started at one point and got upset with the time it was taking with my slow connection and figured that because I had the Microsoft Voice Command, I didn't really need it. So I can't say to its ef...

Hi brickford,

I installed the software upgrade last week, and it seemed as if the phone performed much faster than before. A lot of the crazy bugs I was experiencing are gone (PHEW!) and I've been able to put back all the features and applications that were lost after I did the hard reset.

I've only used the voice dialing once, and it was very responsive to my voice of course, but I would still go ahead to install MS Voice Command, just love it.

I also love the ability to now lock the device that's available as a plug-in on the Today Screen, as well as the new Comm Manager and some of the new sounds and ringers that were added.

Everyone should do the new upgrade, and see how better your phone PERFORMS!!

You are going to have to fish around a bit.. click the support>handset>GSM/CDMA options on the home page..then click Downloads along the top of the screen.. then search for xv6700 in the drop down to the left. That will get you the download, and some important installation info..
