HTC SDA (USA) / SP5m (Tornado)

This phone seems like a great buy. However one of the reason I want to get a new phone is because my current one is impossible to read outside. How good is the display on this phone in bright sun?

Does anyone know if this phone works with
Cingular? Data? Voice?

Does anyone know of any other forms for the SDA?

Oh! Does anyone know how to get an office sweet, namely word that will edit documents, for the SDA?

Do you have to have a data plan to use MSN Messenger and the T-Zone? I got yahoo to work without a plan, but not the others-any suggestions?

I don't know if it's possible to sync Outlook Express in order to get my contacts into my phone, but if so, I need to find some help. I'm using it on my home computer, so I'm not on an Exchange Server. My goal is to type my contacts into Outlook Express, snyc to my phone and transfer the contacts to my phone.

Issue #1: Active Sync 4.1 gives an error that appears to be associated with a firewall. The only firewall that I could possibly have active is Windows, but I don't know how to get to it to turn it off. Is it a control panel?

Issue #2: I tried to install Outlook 2003, but I get a message requesting my password for my personal mail folder, but I don't have a personal mail folder. I click "cancel" and Outlook just quits. Do I have to...

This phone looks really cool. I am a Cingular Blue customer. Does anybody know how I can change the interenet and email settings to work on Cingular Blue so long as I buy an unlocked SDA? I know with Nokia I can request a text message automatically programming in the correct settings--- anything comparable with HTC? Finally, if I need a warranty repair and I'm not a T-Mobile customer, would I be covered? Does HTC have a service center in the US?

Can anyone access streaming audio? I have a radio station that I run and I can't get to it. I get an error everytime I try "The file cannot be viewed on the device."

I saw a tempting offer on wirelessbuy.com for the T-Mobile SDA which essentially makes the phone free with a new activiation.

Is this a reputable website? It says that it's a T-Mobile authorized dealer. Will I get a new, fully functional phone? Are there any potential problems with ordering this way?

Do we know if the SDA (or MDA) will support the Realtor program for the iBox Supra software for unlocking the lock-boxes?

I'm very interested in this phone, but I would like to know what type of ringtones are available. My current phone is a Nokia 6560 from Cingular which has lousy ringtones and you can't upload additional tones. I would like to be able to play actual songs and other mp3 files as ringtones, but it won't be a deal breaker.

I've been trying to research this issue, but I'm not having any luck. I get the impression from the specs that this phone has limited ringtone capability.

I got a question? how do I transfer my contacts from my Sim chip to the phone memory so I can add to speed dial?? And how do i access data on the memory card for use in the phone ?? ie store songs on minisd and use as ring tones?? I guess that was more than one huh??

and another thing is it just me or does the sync program seem a little dumb i mean shouldnt it have more options than to simply explore the folders??

OK to change the t-zone key all you have to do is use the GHisler total commander application http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm

their are other Short_ links that allow you to modify the camera, POC and media player buttons.

Finally got my T-Mobile ROM dumped from the phone and backed up and successfully installed the iMATE ROM on there. That enabled me to use t-zones for full webpage access with proxy settings.

Has anyone tried this combination:

Outlook 2000
Active Sync 3.8
with the SDA and been successful with sync?

My company won't allow other software.

Wow. Ordered yesterday via phone from Tmobile just yesterday. They said it'd be Thursday before it arrived, but lo it is here. Charging it now, will play later. It looks hot!

OK, so I'm a dork. 🙄 I have about 100 songs on the mini-SD card, but I can't get the WinMedia player to do anything but play them in order.

How do you make a playlist? I assume this can be done from within the SDA ...

I do see a "Queue Up" menu item, but I can't get anything to queue up.

Like I said ... 🙄

Has anyone purchased the SDA and got it to successfully work with a carrier other than T-Mobile, please?

Just looked up the specs for this on MS' site and saw that it has the same CPU as the MDA, but the MDA has more ROM. Most likely to house MS Office. Decisions, decisions.

I just ordered an SDA and it will arrive on Tuesday Feb. 28th. I switch to t mobile from cingular and was wondering how the tmobile service is? If anybody that had both could compare for me I'd appreciate it.
