Motorola A1200 / MING

Got thie new Ming from China and it works great for the most part. However there are a few minor bugs that I am hoping to get soem help with.

1: Call Control is allowed - What is this all about? Although the call does go through, I still see it displayed. I am now beginning to notice that it may appear for only new numbers or numbers called for the first time.

2: My bigger issue is that I cannot get the phone to vibrate. I can set it to vibrate, the vibrate settings are all ok, but it doe snot vibrate. It goes silent. Does this have anything to do with the battery?

3: Missed calls and messaging alerts are also silent. The flashing ! mark is all that notifies me of any such calls or messages.

When I bought my phone it had all Chinese language. Well I got that fixed but now I cannot download ringtones and all are in Chinese still. Can someone please help me out. I want English ringtones. Tx.

have the ming and i never got the owners manual or cable to sync it but do i need the cable to set up my email and i just cant get on line i tryed to set it up like someone said just like the a780 but just didnt have the drop box they said does any one no the web address and the wap and ip adders going nutz for 2 weeks or any other tips you can give me thanks ps i have cingular service and im going over seas next month is ther diff settins for that also thanks so much 😢 😕 😢 🤭

I like the looks of this phone, and would love to buy it just for that. But I actually began researching phones hoping to get myself a phone/ mp3 player combo and moved up on price and features from there simply coz no high-end music phone seems to come without cam.

Unlike the boooooring Nokias (N70 music ed., for instance which has a comparable price here in India) or the Sony Ericsson W810i (again naming this one coz of price comparability) this actually looks sexy. So want it, want it. 🤤

Now Q to all: how's the music? Since that's my chief excuse to dump the old phone... 😎

I was just about to buy the phone when I was told that the phone will not be able to access the internet and receive emails when connected via the Cingular system. I was told the reason is b/c this pda phone does not support the "edge" technology. Is this really true? Is there any way around this? Any Cingular experts out there who can tell me otherwise? Please....

I just got my motorola a1200 and I am really impressed with it.

The only problem is that the clock is currently set to January 1st, 1970!

Does anyone know how to set the clock manually? I can't seem to find this option anywhere.

I'm surprised it can't sync through my network (cingular) like my previous cell phone (razr). Has anyone else experienced this problem?

HI i want to buy this phone as it looks and sounds great!! i have a mpx 200 with WM5 and all my contacts are in ms outlook can the a1200 sync the outlook contacts and my outlook calender??? need to know this by Saturday because i am in bad need of a phone!!! and this is the one i want. if it can't sync my contacts and outlook calender then it won't suit my needs ☹️ pl pls pls help 🙂 🙂

Yesterday I was in journey, and wasn't able to recharge my phone. So the battery is completely dried up. And When I connect it to my computer USB to recharge it, it randomly wakes up and windows xp tries to detect it as a modem device even if its in Mass Storage mode. And some times I am getting error saying "Invalid recharge port". I tried every thing from removing and reinserting battery and changing USB ports.

If anybody can help with cause of this behavior then it will be a great help to me, thanks.

I have accidentaly deleted an image. Is it possible for me to retreive the image.

I'm considering getting this phone but I really need to know what kind of charger it uses. Is it the same as the V3 or is it the older motorola two-prong style? 🤤

I want to sync my a1200 calendar with google calendar via goosync.com, which offers a SyncML OTA server.

I have entered the configuration of the goosnync account in my phone OTA setup (Under calendar, I went Sync then Setup->SyncML Setup).

When I do "Sync" the phone says it successfully authenticates with goosync, but then reports "Data Exchange Error".

One thing I had to guess was what to put in the text field of the "Data Path" entry for calendar in the phone SynchML setup. What is supposed to be there?

Has anyone got OTA sync working?

when i first entered a # so my phone will call my voice mail, i did a mistake. now everytime i get a new voicemail, it dials that wrong #. is there a way i can change this? i can't seem to find where this option is.

Hi, I know how to setup the sound for the ringtone, alarm or an incoming message but on the menu for Task/Event Alerts
(setup>>ringer alert styles>>vibe and ring loud>>Event/Task alert)

I can only select from three options: on,off or vibrate.

How can I change the sound to some mp3 or midi?

😕 So Does anyone know where the earpiece is on this thing? At first I thought maybe it was the inside of that motorola logo when you flip open the plastic cover, but then i realized that that cover is clear and there are no wires running through it so obviously no power supply. so where the hell do you hear from on this phone. unless it has to be in speaker or on an earpiece. anyway, where is it?!!!!!

The features on this phone look impressive. I want one, if only to play with for 24 hours. Any idea when this phone will hit the Americas? Any idea which carriers?

I just got this phone and I tried to call the voicemail for cingular by holding on 1 but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to call voice mail?

I would love to be able to try out his fone b4 i buy it but it's not available in any fone stores to try.
So, I would like to know how easy it is to txt using the fone?

Do you have to use qwerty and do you have to use the stylus?

Could I access other info on the fone such as Calender appts while making a call?

Can i set up reminders on the calender for my appts?

Where can I get access to the manual for more info? Every time I attempt access it on Motorola page the link doesn't work...

Hello. I am very interested in the Motorola A1200, but from the info that I have been able to review, it is not available in the US, through the major carriers. Does anyone know if I do decide to purchase the phone, if it will work with Cingular? I would really hate to spend all that money on something I can't use.

I have had my A1200 now for 6 months and I love it.

Just recently, the battery icon has a red slash through it, and the phone just keeps turning on and off over and over again. I purchased a new battery, but that did not work. I pushed the reset button in between the call and joystick button but that did not work.

Has anyone had this problem before? I bought it from e-bay, so I don't have anyone to go to, to fix it.
