Sony Ericsson W810

Hey, i was wondering if you can download content from the sony ericsson site (such as themes) without having to connect your phone to the internet...such as downloading the content to your computer and then uploading it to the phone...i have a cingular branded phone, if that makes a difference...any help would be appreciated...

Im a bit confused here...i know that the screen dims and then turns off when you're not using it within 20 secs...that to me is nice so to conserve the battery...but when im on the phone (making/receiving a call) the screen stays on the whole time...is this normal?...and is there a way to turn the screen off while you're on the phone...this part makes no sense, because if the whole point is to conserve battery, then why is the screen on during the whole phone conversation?? any help would be appreciated

how safe is it? whos been successful doing this? how much work/time is involved?

what i'm trying to find out is is it worth it? did Cingular really restrict the phone's capabilities that much?

I've heard rumors that when you use this client on Cingular's branded phone, all the IM's count as text msgs. Can anyone confirm or deny this??

I downloaded a bunch of games (.jar) format but I'm not sure how to load these onto my phone from my computer. Any suggestions?

I have been web shopping for a new cell phone for about 5-6 weeks now and it’s come down to this phone. Previously I’ve used a cell phone to make phone calls (imagine that) and send a few text messages. Now, however, I’d like to be able to use it to IM, pick up web-based mail, web browse (a bit) and maybe do some Pop3 (which I understand Cingular has disabled), but I’m new to these technologies when it comes to cell phones.

My local Cingular store now has this phone and I went and took a look at it today. It’s much smaller than I thought and for the most part that’s a good thing.

My Pro’s:

Screen – Well lit and very colorful
Menu – Fast navigation and fairly intuitive (small icon learning curve)
Camera ...

Which would you reccomend? The Sony sores more music and comes with more stuff. But I want to know from ownders of one of the phones.

Full legnth mp3s and aacs can't be assigned as ringtones?

PSP orbit theme and others aren't present on cingy's version?

Flashlight not enabled?


If this is true, I'm really not as hyped about getting this phone as I was...Does anyone know the real deal?

almost every image in websites looks like one color monochrome in the phone browser thats normal or what . if i use opera dont have that problem

I prefer to carry my phone in a plastic holster on by belt. It's just much easier for me to get to while seated at my desk or while driving. I don't think Sony Ericsson actually makes one for this phone, but there are hundreds available on ebay (obviously cheap third-party). Has anyone tried one?

I'm getting this phone next month but I have one concern. I am used to using a Samsung, and I hear that the Sony Ericsson UI is really different. Some say they love it, some can't stand it. I don't mind learning something new and getting used to it as long as it makes sense. Did anyone here go from a different brand to the W810i? Was it hard to get used to? Thanks.

Want to sell my SEW810i. Whats the best way to sell it? Through craiglist or ebay? The problem is that the phone is cingular branded. Will I get at least get close to what I spent for the phone....$150? Any tips would be great. Thanks

😕 is there a difference between w810 and w810i? From what I understand on here if there is not a difference I can use a 4GB disk in this phone. I am having one shipped to me from cingular and was wanting to buy my memory for it before it got here so I can play right away. I am just asking for someone who knows to confirm this for me.

Someone in another forum was just telling me that the Fusic is the best phone out there. BAH! I compared that side by side to a w810i and the sony won hands down.

Other than the stereo bluetooth, can anyone name an advantage the Fusic has over the w810i?

I have an unlocked w810i, and recently traveled to Italy. My current service is Cingular in the States and was under the impression that if I have an unlocked phone, I could use it internationally and pay the roaming fee. When I was in Italy the phone displayed, "For Emergency Calls Only", across the top of the phone. Can I still make regular phone calls while this is displayed? I too chicken to try it, some phones that have this message will contact 911 no matter what you dial.

Hey, i just got the cingular w810i and was wondering about the earbuds that come with it...the cord is a bit weird because the left earbud cord is much shorter than the one attached to the right earbud...is this how it should be?...basically you can't really use these headphones with anything but the phone because the cord is essentially too short...is this how it should be?...any help would be appreciated

I'm 99% sure I'll be getting the W810i next month. This will be my first phone with a SIM card and I'm a little confused. If I build a contact list in Outlook and then transfer it to the phone, do I want to save the list to the SIM card, memory card, or the phone's built-in memory? What's the difference? Sorry if this is a really dumb question. 😕

I am thinking of upgrading from the Motorolla V551 to the SE w810i.

I love all the features of the w810i, but I have a couple of questions.

Is it easy to sync the calendar and contacts between the w810i and Outlook?

Is the software to sync inlcuded with the phone (I had to buy the V551 software separately and it doesn't do a good job with the contacts).
