Sony Ericsson W300 / Z530
W300i VS. W810i
Thanks
The W300i is basically a low end flip version of the W810i.
The W810i has a far superior camera. More internal memory. More of those little extra functions.
I just bought the W300i because its a lot less expensive and I don't need a good camera in my phone right now. Plus Sony is going to include Cyber Shot cameras in their phones soon so I figured this would tide me over until they put true digital cameras in their already awesome phones.
A Radio Shack rep said the 300i has a standard headset adapter, but I have NOT been able to verify that. I was about to check, but the local Cingular company store doesn't carry the 300i, and the Cingular plan I want isn't available at RS.
Sigh.
I don't know if we can say exactly that Sony's shot themself in the foot, but mine are worn out.
Anyone know if this part is available separately, and is it compatible with the 300i?

According to the chart, no flight mode with W300i.
300i also doesn't have voice dialing, W810i does. Unless voice dial is a no-extra-cost feature with a low cost Bluetooth headset for driving (open interstates only, folks!), that kills it for me. A shame, because I prefer clamshells. And with the savings could buy the BT.
Still on the fence myself.
PS: Another tip -- go to the Info tab, click through to the SE site and download the manuals.

If you haven't done this already, use phonescoop's compare feature (no need to mess with Phone Finder for two specific phones).

If the 300i has voice dialing, it's one step closer to making my own list.
Unfortunately, although I haven't used it, I have examined it in a store and and don't see a headset jack, which is another mandatory with me. So top of my list is still a Motorola 365.
Acidburn1, if you can't visit a dealer, check out the manual at the sony ericsson site. Phonescoop page links to it, IIRC.

Check the URL. I don't have a 300i, so all I can tell you is what's on the Phone Scoop chart. Where did you read different?

To be honest, I'm not sure where I read it. I've read several reviews on the W300i. I think I remember reading that the W300 did not have those features, but the newer W300i does have them. The headset plugs into the bottom of the phone in the same port as the charger if I'm not mistaken. The p...

The adapter you describe might be a Sony or maybe third party accessory. It it's compact right-angle jack built into the proprietary connector, that's a start. But not the equal of a built-in jack. What if you forget or lose it? Can you get a replacement? Can you plug anything else in while using it?
If it's like the "headset" for the W810i, it's a non-starter. That's just a long, awkward proprietary cord with an inline clip-on mic on it, that you can plug stereo headphones or buds (NOT a headset) into, or use the included flimsy, tangly, low-fi earbuds.
Cool thing about the W8...

Cool thing about the W810i, though, is its voice recognition. Haven't actually tried it yet, but it's TOTALLY hands-free ... say a personal "magic word" and it's ready to accept your voice dial. Other phones, you have to push something on the phone to initiate voice dial. If voice dial has been added to the W300i, I hope it works like the 810i.
That is how it works on the w300i. I went to the Sony Ericcson website and read the owner's manual.
