How do I choose different words while Text messaging!? PLEASE HELP!!

When I am writing a text in 'word' mode, how do I scroll through if the word that comes up isn't what I want to type. For example, lets say I try to type the word 'kid', but the word 'lie' comes up. Is there a way I can scroll through to select 'kid'??? It seems like my only option is to choose 'lie'. Does anyone have any ideas??

Should be the keypad zero (0). Pressing this will scroll through the words available.

Also, if the dictionary doesn't have a word you use regularly, you can "train" it. Leave the input mode on "word", type the new word you want, letter by letter, using 0 to scroll through each individual letter, right arrow to advance to the next character, etc. After the end of the word, press the * key and it will store the word in the dictionary.

This is the best info I think I ever got on phonescoop.. Either you read the book or what ?

How cool is that, I thought I was the test messaging dude.. I had no idea that you can enter letters in word mode. I always switch to abc.. Wow and with the * to save it..

Dude, you rock !!!

THANK YOU

I have to tell you, that's one of the nicest / best compliments I've had in a long time. You are quite welcome. Glad I could help.

I must be doing something wrong. When I push 0 as suggested above, I get a beep and it won't let me type anything else. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, Scott

Actually, what you do is switch to Abc mode (multi-tap). Then once you type the letters of the word you want, then switch to Word mode and it will now be added to the T9 dictionary.

On a side note is there anyway to have the text message default into Word mode rather than ABC mode?

Hit the OK key (menu), then go to MESSAGING, then use the Left Soft Key and choose Settings, choose ALL MSG (since you probably want all the message types to default to WORD entry mode, then scroll down 5 (entry mode) and set it to WORD.
You should check out the manual because there are some other things in there that you might easily overlook on your phone that you never even knew were possibilities with the VX8300. 🙂

You don't have to be in "Abc" mode in order to input new words in the dictionary. From "Word" mode, hit the key with the first letter of the word you want; if the first choice isn't the letter you want, hit zero until the letter you want is displayed; hit the right arrow on the control wheel, hit the key with the next letter you want, again using zero to scroll through until your choice is displayed, then right arrow again, repeating until you have spelled the new word. After the last letter, hit the * (star) key, thus adding the new word to the dictionary. This works every time - if it doesn't, you have done something wrong.

Good luck!
