Type V vs Type S
So wait....I'm about to upgrade phones and was going to get the Type-V. Then I spoke to a Verizon rep and they said that the newer version, Type S was coming out in June. I started looking into the S model on-line, and from what Ive read so far, its not going to have a smaller screen, and also its NOT gonna have V-Cast capability?? Is this true? I thought this was an upgrade to the Type-V. If the Type V has the V-Cast, and the Type S wont, isn't that a downgrade? I may just have to pick up the Type-V and forget the S. Anyone have any further info on the new model or any suggestions?

I was in the position you were . I was waiting for the S since i wanted bluetooth...but then after reading that it will have a smaller, lower resolution screen, no exdo and a worse camera I decided to get the V (free with my NE2) before they were all gone. To be honest...the only thing that REALLY mattered to me of the aforementioned downgrades was the screen size and quality. I text alot and want a large clear screen. Anyway a few days later one of my co-workers got the type S (somehow) and i was able to do a side by side comparison. I am VERY HAPPY I went with the V. The screen size and resolution on the V is light years beyond the S. The other thing that concerns me is that the V has been known since its introduction to have outstanding R...

well according to the rep I talked to, the inventory on this phone is still up there, he said there is not a shortage on them. I would not be surprised to see another price drop on them so they can get rid of it. I got mine last week, so far I like it, but the battery life is not good at all. So far, that is my biggest complaint.

Funny....but i think the battery life is pretty good. I am a "charge fanatic" and generally have my phone plugged in all the time when in the car...and its always in the charger at home...but this phone...thus far...has done pretty well without being constantly plugged in. I think it depends alot on where you live and tower spacing. Im in NYC and there are alot of towers so the phone uses less energy. The way CDMA works...in more sparsely covered areas the phone will draw more juice and therefore the battery will drain faster

the "S" in the G'zone type - S can stand for a lot of derrogatory names that I'm sure all of us at this forum know and use freely. I'm a big fan of the V, got it back in December and have used it since. This phone has definitely been through hell and back. But as far as battery life, you wanna make sure that you top off the Li-Ion battery as that way, you get the most out of it and try not to let the battery fully drain. Also, try turning the screen backlight and keybad brightness to a lower timed setting. If this doesn't change things, see if the vzw store can help you any, I've had nothing but good things to report from stores in LA. Hope this helps!
