Motorola W315
w315 and motorola phone tools
Hi, My kids just purchased these phone and I installed motorola phones tools deluxe 4.0 and let it do a live update.
The problem is that the phone tools will not see the w315. it has almost every other one in there but not the w315.
My kids would love it if they could install their own ringtones and pictures as backgrounds but the tools will not let them.
Any info or help will be greatly appreciated

No amount of fooling around with this phone will enable transfers of ringtones or pictures in any form except by downloading from your wireless provider. I have waged a 2 month battle with Motorola, Alltel and BVRP (Motorola Phone Tools) about this issue. Verizon typically dumbs their phones down' Alltel does not.
The filesystem is different than any I have ever seen so BitPim is also useless.
In MPT you can manipulate everything but ringtones and pictures.
My best advice?.....if you can return it, do so! If you are thinking about purchasing one, don't!

I agree with the above post. The W315 is useless for downloading MP3 ringtones to the phone using BitPim or Phonetools. I bought this phone on my "New Every Two" thinking I could use either program to do it. But after 6+ hours with no luck I returned the phone for a v325i then returned It for a V3m (the phone I have now)(I swap ALOT 😉 ) But never the less, good phone for other things just not MP3 Ringtones.

yes if anyone has the answer to this or knows of another software to create your own ringtones and put em on the W315 with the USB cord, please let me know dat.
