Good idea bad phone
Well i got this phone on Friday really excited about getting my first PDA.. I am a student and wanted to get more organized for school and work so i heard this one was the best, i heard wrong...
Pros: Great screen, small phone, GREAT web browsing, love the keyboard really ez to type, good recpetion and voice quality load ringer, speaker phone, and ear volume..
BIG CONS: Vergamail crashes ALWAYS i know i did everything right it just didn't work everytime i tried to open it it would crash and phone would restart, Also the PDA its self would randomly reboot for no reason and this made me miss phone calls..
Get another PDA this one is NOT worth the money unless you want a very unstable system..
Stay away if you live in an 850 market
As far as PDA's go this phone is great but that's the problem, it's a phone too. I had the phone for a week and had nothing but problems with the service. I know it is not the carriers service because I can place my sim card in my old phone and it works perfect. The other issue is the voicemail would always reset to some random number and not just a 10 digit number. I also bought a MMC card for it to store larger files but half the time it would not register the card and I just had to pray each time, hoping it would work. Now then, when the phone did work everything was great but the speaker phone. When activated the speaker phone would always break up, people could not understand want I was saying but I could hear them perfect. This phone needs a lot of work, they should have waited on production of this model untill everything worked great. I do not recomend this unless you just want a PDA or just want to feel important.
Love this phone
I just bought the Treo 650 and right from th start loved it.
It does everything but cook dinner.
I had 1 problem though. When I was setting up my VersaMail I accidentally went over the phone's settings. I can not get them back. I have no pblm sending, but the system can not find the incoming Mail server. pop.cingular.com. ? I tried to call Cingular but had no luck. the only pblm with this phone is the customer service at cingular..
I wouldn't get one for my dad
What can I say? I love this phone; like I love my bratty little brother. I would have given it a 5, but it needs more work from Palm.
A one handed pda style phone is what this baby is all about and it does it well. Browse web/email, phone, etc. all with one hand!
LOT'S of bugs, so if you are not the patient type and not willing to exchange a unit or two, or SIM card, then you should probably wait. It can be very frustrating trying to get support from Palm and the carriers.
Bottom line is if you are pretty tekky, then go for it; otherwise don't. IMO
