love the phone!
for those people that have verizonwireless this phone is one of the best things that this company could of done ! I'm very happy with this phone it has a really good battery life and as far as the speaker phone goes it couldn't be more clear . i have had the phone from way before it came out in stores ! the only thing is the size of the keypad I'm a girl and i don't have big fingers but i have a hard time using the keypad. as for those people who drive all the time your gonna love the voice activation as well as the digit dial where you tell the phone the number and it dials it for you .
Sky slider phone for Kyocera OEM
This is first phone in US for Sky(SK telecom). This is Sky 5400 model that was release in Korea two years ago and just got release in US. Sky have very good reputation in Korea and excellent phone. Waiting for Verizon to release the phone.

I was sold when I saw the huge digital clock display on the front when the phone is closed!
This phone is perfect for anyone who likes the basic monolith phones but doesn't like flip phones. It's like a compressed version of a monolith phone. It's hard to open with your right hand because of the antenna, but I'm right handed and it feels great in my left hand. The color screen is the perfect size and stays on the outside of the phone.
Pros: a huge digital clock on the front when closed, very bling-blingy style, same great setup as previous kyocera phones, extreme reinforced antenna, 4-day battery life average, no digital camera that you'll end up not using.
Cons: have to pay for the games and fancy ringtones (one time fee available)

hey.. so yea the phone is pretty tight and its definately different on how it slides. alot of people like that factor when it comes to purchasing it. but one thing people tend to forget about this phone is that its a "digital only" phone.. which means if you live in a rural area.. like alot of people do.. you will have nothing but trouble with this phone. since it doesnt push any analog service even if you try to call 911 you will have no luck. but it does come with some nice feature and the kyocera software is pretty reliable. the speaker is a tight addition to this phone as well as the size, weight and the fact that it slides instead of flips totally adds to the pimp factor on the phone. ive been a pretty big fan of kyocera since the 1135, which was a rockin phone back in its day, and this is a nice addition to the line. but with the area im in where we do push alot of analog it seems like the phone is only good for eye candy.
This Phone Is a Huge Waste of Money
i live in manhattan New york. i purchased this phone because it was cute and different and i use verizon wireless. when i put the battery in and powered it up, i immediately had a thin vertical purple line running through the screen, and the reception and signal strength are too irratic. i previously owned a motorola t720 . when i went to my usual spots with my motorola for example, the supermarket, etc.. i had clear perfect reception and full signal strength. when i went to these same places with my kyocera se47, i had fluctuating signal strength and poor reception during phone calls. i phoned kyocera customer service (which by the way is also horrible) i stood on the phone for 40 minutes waiting for a customer rep. the rep told me that the line running through my screen meant that the phone was defective which in turn could also affect the signal strength and reception and he suggested that i replace the phone and see what happens. Basically this phone seems to be nothing more than a piece of Junk. And if i cant get clear crisp perfect reception and signal in the heart of manhattan NY (using verizon wireless) i can only imagine what kind of reception other people who live in the suburbs or elsewhere are getting. This phone is definitely a No-No. Do yourself a favor and forget about wanting to own it because if its cool design, or because youre an attention seeker. This phone is more of a pain in the bum. its not worth it.
Kyorcera SE44
I recently loaned my self this phone from my store. I have to say i like my Moto T720 alot better. With the slider i found the buttons to be way to small, the ring tones suck!it was hard to dial a phone number, im also not a big fan of Kyocera to begin with . I like the speaker phone on the slider. but thats about it. it really all depends what you like in a phone. but id take my moto over this phone any day
Avoid Entirely
This phone is very unreliable, with various crashing problems and stability issues. At the best of times the screen is poor, alarm clock bugs, the buttons relatively hard to push, and the reception mediocre. Expect problems. This is from my experience with four of these units (free warranty replacements). Some of the same problems, some different problems. But problems, problems, and more problems seems to be the general theme of this phone.

This phone was cool at first but then after a while the battery life starts to go down. like on my phone, when i first got it, i could talk on it for like 2 hours and the battery would last, but now, i can barely talk on it for 2 minutes without it dying. and i don't like how you have to go through the menu to put it on silent, it takes forever. i wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone.

There is a lot to be said of this phone.
Pros
- Battery Life is not bad. Charge about once every 2-3 days -- and charging process is short.
- Size. It fits in the 'change' pocket made in my jeans. I enjoy this. It doesn't feel bulky or huge in my pocket.
- Takes beatings like no other. Dropped it a lot. Still works. Accidently fell into the toilet. Dried out for 4 days and works fine.
Cons
- Earpiece quality sucks. It has NOTHING on LG sound quality.
- Mumbled / rough sound quality transfer. Often times people will not understand you, you will hear yourself echo, or you won't be able to hear someone because the damn phone's earpiece won't go any louder (even in sweet spot).
- Phone slow as hell when in rapid type mode for text messages. Learn to use ABC mode. You have to.
- Cannot customize ringtones for text messages or voicemails. You have selection from 4-5 default alert sounds. Boo!
- It's a joke to turn the phone on and have to wait a minute for everything (mainly the phone book) to 'update'.
- Don't like the extendable antenna. Extremely flimsy and will rip off easily (and often times pops up in my pocket making it vulnerable!).
- BAD BAD Sound Quality.
- Did I mention bad sound quality? Yeah. That's the main purpose of a cell phone, Kyocera!-- to be a PHONE.
- Whenever you open a selection menu for ringtones or anything, it won't go to the current selection; it will begin at the top of the menu. And scrolling through selections is a bitch because it's a slow process (like the eZmode when writing text messages).
- Cannot do anything unless phone is slid open. You get used to this, but when I first bought this phone -- I was dissappointed I couldn't do anything without it open.
- Speakerphone sucks. Often times afraid it will bust my speaker when I try to turn it up and hear it, because it scraps and scratches at the speaker.
*** IF I COULD DO IT OVER AGAIN, I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PHONE ***
