Not that great
I bought this phone cause I wanted something different. It i a different phone with fun styling. The picture quality isn't too bad and it does have a nice compact design. Problems that I have been having with it are:
1- Battery life is too short... maybe 20 hours standby.
2- Battery indicator is never right. It will show full then after 2 minutes of talking it is already half depleted.
3- Signal strength is never correct. I swear that its programming is to show at least a bar even if service is not available.
4- I never get good clear calls. They always become choppy at some point.
5- Sometimes, if I open it too fast, It will just turn off.
6- Alarm clock has snooze option there but you have to open the phone to use the button options on front. If you just hit it it automatically turns off the alarm.
7- I cannot charge it at work because it will not let you put it into silent and charge it at the same time.
8- cannot have it vibrate and ring at the same time.
If these are things that don't bother you then it is a really fun phone. Personally the thing just drives me nits whenever I try to use it. I am switching over to Cingular and am waiting on my new phone to arrive so I can get rid of this hunk of junk.
SE47 Not a good phone for guys
I liked the way it looked but had problems with it. I have big hands and bulky fingers which made it hard for text messaging with this phone or even dialing for that matter. I would constantly drop calls and not receive all my voice mails nor text messages until a day or two later. I had for a week and sent it back for the LG VX4600 which I love.
So I could see this phone more geared towards children/teens or females with small fingers.
Personally...
I have had this phone a few months, though I did not purchase it through verizon. I got it thorough virgin mobile as I am a teen and cannot afford a monthly plan.
Overall I am impressed. This phone is stylish and compact. I can easily keep it in my pocket and out of site in school while keeping it assessable. The key pad was a little discouraging at first but you get used to it. I still have issues texting, as when I go to hit the up arrow to go to the next letter I accidentally hit send, quite an incovinece as each text is ten cents.
I am impressed with the games, tetris, brick attack, and race 21, very entertaining. Web access could be improved, but screen size is nice compared to other phones. I enjoy the MTV down loadable songs but regret not being able to download games.
So I'll break it down to what I think
Pros: compact, light, fun, very tough, voice dialing is best I have experienced, alarm and scheduler very helpful, speaker phone very useful
Cons:wallpapers aren't great, can't easily change volume, web access, texting issues, not much memory, freezes, no face plates or interchangeable antennas.
This phone is a great deal and I can't wait for the next phone to become available a swivel phone!!! great phone kyocera I commend you
Good Phone When NEW!
Phone good only when new after awhile battery wears down faster and not so great reception have gotten dropped calls only 2x though. Big fingers no good with this small phone easy to drop. Display cracks easy so you will not want to drop it anyway.
Nice...
I love the phone bought it a couple of days ago and it seem nice and all but it takes a long time getting use to the key pad kyocera should probally make the buttons a little bigger other than that it's a great phone good reseption sleek style just a very wonderful phone

Can't Charge Phone / Talk!!!
I just purchased this phone, but I am returning in under Verizon's 15 day trial period because you cannot plug the phone in and talk. This is a big deal to me considering I do not have a land-line phone. Other than that, this phone is pretty cool.
SE47 - Not All It's Cracked Up To Be
I have had a Kyocera phone for over two years (QCP-3035) and have been VERY happy. I thought I'd try the Slider since it was the closest "candy bar" styled phone that Verizon offered with a speakerphone (a necessity for me). After using the phone for over a week, I couldn't stand it. Here is my summary of Pros and Cons:
PROS: Speakerphone, flashy design, phone doesn't have to be placed in a base to charge.
CONS: This phone has terrible reception. The menus (GUI) are not user-friendly compared to LG's and Samsungs. The slide function begins to become very loose after a few days of use. The battery life is bad. The voice-activated dialing is STUPID. I felt like throwing this phone through the windshield when trying to use voice dialing. Finally, the ring tones are very "tinny". They sound cheap and low-tech.
I advise you to stay away from this phone. I took mine back and got an LG-VX4500 and LOVE it.
