Samsung SGH-A777
Average Ratings
Great so far
So far this has been a great phone to use. It has excellent battery life and excellent reception. A big step up from my last phone...the horrible Nokia 6555.
Pros:
Great Battery
Great Reception
Easy to use
Doesn't feel cheaply made
Great sound quality
Bluetooth Data Transfer(see below)
Cons:
No PC Software to put things on(ringtones, pics, games) for those who don't feel comfortable using the bluetooth transfer
Ringtones must be under 300k to be usable
I'd recommend this phone to anyone looking for a good basic phone.
Not Durable
This phone is not for those who are rough on cell phones. My husband has this phone and he complains about the volume all the time. The phone drops calls (ATT) a lot. The front plastic cover came off and he had to superglue it back on. This phone is only 6 mos. old!
Bugs in the a777
Went from an old Nokia to the Sam a777 in April 2009. What a mistake.
The a777 has been replaced four times due to poor speaker quality and short battery life that has been allowing up to one hour of talk time (on a full charge) before going to one spike on the battery indicator.
The first and second a777's were jumping into browser mode and incoming calls on three of the four a777's were going into voice mail with less than five seconds of an incoming ring-tone.
The fourth, and last replacement phone, was tried and the speaker vibrations started off just as the previous three a777's. And with speaker volume set at three bars (just enough to comfortably hear) the vibrations
began and increased with each increase of the volume.
I have been using a Jawbone with the Sam a777 and the Jawbone quality has been a blessing as there is no speaker vibration in it.
Conclusion: If you want to walk around with a Jawbone in your ear all the time the a777 may be fine - - but that is hardly the way to have to use a cell phone all the time.
Nokia, here I come again.
