Samsung SCH-U740 Alias

Would anyone here not recommend me purchasing this phone? I have the LG 8600 and I am tired of it. I have the option to get this for $160. What do you all think>?

I am interested in the new lg 10000 voyager and new venus lg 8800. Does anybody know what the cost should be thanks everyone. 😕

everytime i try and go on the web or the music thing or try and download anythin like ring tones and games onto my phone it says network busy error 2048...why cant i get on to any of these things?

To do ringtones with bitpim, you will first need the data cable that verizon sells. Install the drivers, install bitpim, connect the phone, start bitpim.

Bitpim will recognize it as "Other CDMA Phone".
Under the View menu, make sure "View FileSystem" is checked.
Next, in the category tree on the left, select file system. The root node should be someting like "/". Expand that and look for a new node titled "ff", then expand the one titled "brew" followed by "mod", and finaly "mr". In total, the path should appear "/ff/brew/mod/mr". On some phones the ff will be skipped so that it appears as /brew/mod/mr. The folder should have some mp3's (if there are any custom ringtones) as well as a MrInfo.db file. so i want to get this phone but cant because i bought a phone for full retail price returned it and bought another but it hasnt been 30 days and i cant return!! im only allowed one return and i didnt know this....please give me a way that i can purchase this phone and return my current one!! 🙂

Has anyone else noticed how weak the front screen on this phone is? Just causually bumping into something has caused the screen my 3rd phone of this model to break.......i mean i love the phone, but im very dissappointed with the front screen

Please someone help me. I have bought a usb cable for my phone and I have tried a few programs to be able to transfer data and make ringtones. I have been completely unsuccessful and I am aggravated at myself. Can someone please help me out and tell me how to do this process. Thanks

I was just wondering if there was an option on this phone to toggle the front display backlight on and off without actually having to open the phone.

I like to be able to check the time without having to open it up. I've found that you can do this by holding any of the buttons around the side of the phone, but is there any way to do it with just the press of one button?

On my old phone, I could view my contact list by entry #. I read in the manual that it can be sorted like this with the u740, but I can't figure it out. I would like to sort my contact list by # instead of alphabetically. Can anyone help?

has anyone had problems with this phone powering itself off then powering itself back on? im still on a 30 day trial with Verizon. took it back to the store, agent said it needed reprograming, in which he did, but if it did not happen again a week later. i plan on taking it back & telling them to switch it out because i REALLY like this phone. VZW rep said no one else has ever had this problem. im asking you all out there if you have or have not so i can let them know it is a possible problem. i had it to power itself off, then back on while attempting a text msg & this last time, i was downloading ringtones. thanks.

I was using the Mobile IM feature (from the messaging menu), and at some point I saw an option for a free upgrade. So I did it. Well, now I have to go to the Get-It-Now / Extra options menu to get into AIM. The option is no longer under the MOBILE-IM option (#😎 under messaging !! What gives !! ??

I also see NO WAY to manage the applications on this thing. The online steps of how to go to the "manage apps" menu item are not correct, and I can't locate any such option. There appears to be no option to disable or uninstall an app to free up memory.

Anybody have any ideas, or similar problem ??

I just ordered a micro sd card and was wondering if i would be able to put music on the card with my computer and be able to listen to it on the phone or if i would have to purchase a data cable for the phone. And if i do need a data cable, would i need software to put the music on the phone? Any info helps. Thanks!

I just got my microSD card for my phone and i put music on the card. The music shows up on the phone, but when it plays it only plays the first 5 seconds or so then changes to the next song.......anyone have any ideas what can be wrong here? Any help is greatly appreciated

Any firmware hacks since bell released this phone? Maybe bell software is better and has java?

i noticed today while on a phone call, on the front screen on the bottom right corner is an 'options' choice. i clicked it & noticed the option for voice record. i clicked it, it appeared to be recording the call but once you get out of it, where do you go to hear the voice record? is this feature actually recording a call or whats it about? can someone please tell where do i find the recorded info on this phone? thanks.

I just bought the sch-u740 from Verizon and I really like this phone although I'm slightly concerned with the hinge. When my phone is closed, it wiggles slightly, does anyone else's phone do this? Is it normal?

if i lost it can i get a new one for free? what if its stolen?

can i buy a broken one and say mine broke and get a new one (if its lost)? or do they check the serial number =[
