signal strength on Q9M

I am thinking of getting the Verizon Q9M. However I have read mixed comments on the call signal strength. Can any Verizon Q9M users comment on this? I live in Boston.

Treo to Moto Q9c

My 700WX bit the dust today. In a panic I ran to the sprint store and was looking at the Centro, Moto Q9c, and one of the Blackberrys.

BB was out of the running in a flash. If the Centro came w/ WM6, I probably would have gotten it. But it didn't & I didn't.

So I get home w/ the Moto Q9c and for the most part I like it. It's going to take some time to get used to not having a touchscreen, but it may be a hurdle I can clear.

However, I TERRIBLY miss the Threaded SMS and the Picture Mail/Text. Does anyone know if and how I can get one or both of these apps to work on the Q9c? If so, please advise.

Thank you.

New Q9c User can't get Speakerphone to work

I just got a Q9c a couple days ago and while I can get the voice recognition to work and can command the phone to dial a number, the speakerphone never turns on. All sound from the called party comes from the ear speaker, never the rear speaker. Yet when interacting for voice commands, those prompts do come from the rear speaker. Once the connection is made, it reverts to ear speaker.

Also, while in a call, I would expect to be able to press the speakerphone button (next to the photo button) and have the speakerphone turn on...it doesn't (no matter how long I hold the button down).

Any idea if I'm doing something wrong? Is there something I need to turn on that isn't turned on? Is there something I need to turn off that may not ...

Speakerpath and volume

Is there a wayto change the speaker path on this phone for the voice and digit dialing features?

As it is the sound comes through the rer speakers instead of the earpiece and is very, very loud if you have your speaker set oud enough to hear ringtones.

It is very annoying to have to turn the speaker setting down every time I dial my phone.

HELP! Moto Q9c/Blackberry decision

I am a Sprint user and I can upgrade on Jan 1 '08. I am really on the fence if I should pick up either the Blackberry 8130 (Pearl 2), a Moto Q9c, or if I should just wait until Feb and grab the Blackberry Curve (friend that works for Sprint said it would be out mid/late Feb). If the Curve comes out any later than Feb, I more than likely will not wait for it.

I am wondering if anyone has any insight on pros and cons on the phones; I have looked in depth into the specs, but am looking for advice from current users that own these devices.

Thanks for the help!

Error message trying to Send/Receive email with COX

I have the Sprint Q9c and I receive the following message each time I try to send/receive emails. "The message(s) cannot be sent. Be certain that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct and then try again. I set the email account up using the automatic settings so I hope this something else relatively easy to fix. Anyone else have this issue?

Can I receive Picture Messages?

I haven't bought the Q9M, yet but I think it is going to fit my needs pretty well.

My question is this, I know you can take a picture of something and send it via message, but can you receive other types of picture messages?

I talking about the ones that are kinda like chain messages that have a picture of something and then it will play a song and have a text message attached to it. Hope i didn't confuse anyone..lol

Another question is that I know this type of phone doesn't have get it now, so has anyone used the website: www.ringtonejukebox.com for ringtones?

Thanks for any help you can give🙂

Lots of questions, new to the game

Just switched to verizon from sprint because all my family is with verizon. Always had good service with sprint though. Purchased new moto q 9m so here go my questions:
1)Why is there no underscore on the qwerty keyboard? If its there, I'm blind. A couple email addresses I use have underscore.
2)I get way better reception on sprint with my old, nearly dead sanyo from 5 years ago. Is it the network or the phone?
3) More on above, I was standing next to a verizon customer that has a basic motorola flip phone, don't know the model, I had 1 bar and he had 3. Whats the deal?
4)Why when texting, can u only type 160 characters? Is this a common on all phones?
5)This aggrevates me: Why do I have to go to the task manager to "kill" app...

Epocrates or other references

I'm a med student and I'm trying to combine my PDA and my cell phone into one. I'm having trouble picking between the Treo 700wx and the Motorola Q. I'm leaning towards to Q because it's a little more affordable and it's a little smaller/lighter. I'm wondering if anyone here is a pharmacist/physician/med student etc that uses the Q and has Epocrates Essentials or any of the other drug references or diagnosis tools on it and if so how they work on the Q. That's a big factor for me in picking. If anyone has any advice or input I'd really appreciate it.

windows live

CNET's review says the q9 has a scaled down version of windows live. what exactly does that mean? I am a heavy user of Windows live features and it would be a large factor in determining if I should buy this phone

Text Message reminders

Can someone tell me if you can enable reminder tones for text messages that have not yet been viewed? Similar to how the RAZR does the single beep until you at minimum open the phone to acknowledge that it was received?

Connection VS music

It seems Verizon likes to make their money in the music business and excessive data usage. They should have added the Wi-Fi connection or offer the Wi-Fi card for the Q9m.

Most people who buy the Smart phones are looking to do emails and other data related activities. The added Wi-Fi connection will speed up transfers while in coffee shops, airports, or other hotspots, and save the customer some money with that added feature.

The newer Samsung and the Pearl have this option, Motorola does not.
