BlackBerry Pearl 8130

i used to have a 8100 on tmobile and now have the 8130 on sprint. on my old 8100 when i would browse my applications i could scroll down a list of them, and now on my 8130 the only menu that it looks like is available is a icon grid of the apps...is there a way to change it to the scrolling list? not liking the icon grid menu...any info would be appreciated on this.

as well as does anyone know if there is a theme like on the 8100 where on the main screen you can have your main apps at the bottom of the screen only and not on the left side?

1. A sprint store employee told me it was a horrible phone to use for text messaging is this true? She said I had to enter the phone number plus the @ CELLPROVIDER.com to get a text message out. Is this true?

2. Can you watch youtube type videos on this phone?

3. Is the internet on the phone the actual web or the mobile version of the web?

4. Finally, if someone sends me one of those animated picture mail messages... does it animate? I have the Treo 700p and the messages never animate...

so the order processed and the phone will arrive today. i am wondering though if this set up will actually let me browse the web on my phone by just having the vision plan with sprint? as well as just having a text plan will this work too without a BB data plan?

curious, how long can you record a video for? Can be as long as you want and/or it can be as long as you want as long as you have enough memory on your sd card? or is there a limited time you have to record each video?

Way too many smart people on this site, you guys have helped me tweak every phone I've owned for the past five years. Admittedly those were all PocketPC microsoft systems, so a little easier to crack open.

Any suggestions? Registry editor or way to access that?

Is there a way to brighten the lcd on the Pearl? I was also wondering if you can use personal pictures for a back ground.

I am a Sprint customer, and have been for over 5 years, so i'm not going to switch. I, and my hubby, recently upgraded our phones to the palm centro. Our first "do it all" phone. He loves it. The touch screen, the infrared, and a couple of other features. Me, I could take or leave the screen and the whole phone. Not really liking it. The camera has no flash and you can't really customize it. The only benifit about the whole thing is that we basically got 2 for one; as price is a big factor as well. I have held the BBPearl 8130 and have been albe to test it out a bit in Best Buy as they had two active. The suretype thing wasn't a problem. It seemed similar to the t9 prog i've been dealing with for years. It's just the letters are in the qwert...

I purchased the 8130 (blue) about 2 months ago and noticed the new (red) and had to have it. I called sprint told them I wanted the red and they said sure send your phone back and we will ship it out. It arrived the next day WHOA!

I currently use the treo 650 (at the time I wanted to eliminate carrying both a cell and PDA). I've been debating on upgrading to the 755 or going with the Pearl. I need and love the organization the palm offers and it seems as If I can get all that with the Pearl but what about add on software. I use my treo as a checkbook and expenses tracker does the Pearl offer this type of support. Also does it offer a similar syncing with your pc as a treo? I have read the reviews and played with one in the store and feel the keyboard seams a little odd but manageable. I love the size and price but just need a little more info on the blackberry product in general. I figured if I wanted to get the most accurate advice this was the place. I would use it...

i have another question on t-mobile and any other carrier you can get a better web browser such as opera mini but from operas website it says that it is not compatible with brew if anyone knows about another web browser or if opera is available please help

I'm still very new to smartphones. I'm pretty sure now that this phone isn't Get It Now capable. How/where do you download ringtones? Or do you have to transfer music to your phone and use a micro SD card? I'm noticing that this phone is extremely limited without a micro SD card.

Is it possible to get the pearl with just a voice plan and no data? The verizon reps say that its impossible but i find that very hard to believe.

I have just received the new Blackberry 8130 from sprint and am having a hard time putting new themes on the phone and games. I have downloaded the Mini Opera software and when I go to the game section it asks for my model of phone and I put in 8130 and it only pulls up a LG model. Also when I download the theme from handango.com it says the application is not supported for this device. Anyone else having this issue???

I have had the 8130 for VZW for about 1 1/2 weeks now and have had to pull the battery about 4 times because of lockups. Mostly, my call log would not open and would freeze the phone unless I hit the end key. Today the phone function froze and I could not dial a number unless I rebooted.

Is anyone else experiencing anything like this?
