Nokia 6255i / 6256i

We're thinking about getting this phone. I see it's come down already, when do all the new phones come out that this one might be dirt cheap?

Also, do you like this phone? Does the bluetooth work well on it with Verizon? They assured me at "let's talk" that the bluetooth wasn't disabled.

You seem to know alot about how to make this stuff work. I have a 2636i, and it drives me crazy that the picture Id doesn't work to the point I won't use the phone. (crazy I know) I have a cable for the phone, and I searched here and howardsforum for Diego, but I can't find it anywhere to download it. Do you know where I can get it, or what its under on freedownloads.com? I would really appreciate any help. Everyone talks about it, but no one will share where to get it! Why is that? I emailed sprint regarding the 6255 and this is the actual e-mail I received back:

Dear XXXX,

Thank you for contacting Sprint with your upgrade questions.

There is no release date at this time for the ppc 6601Nokia does not
have a 6255 model at this time. Perhaps you were speaking about the
6225. If so, this model is out a available at any of our local PCS
stores for $169.99. I hope this information has answered your questions
today.

hey guys, I was wondering if it is possible to get rid of the date appearing in the middle of my main display on the Nokia 6255i, so it does not mess up the wall paper.

oh yeah, is there any codes that I should know to maintain maxium control over the phone and the options?

I know there has been some posting on this subject but really with no conclusion. I just bought my 6255 through USC and it seems that any MP3 I try setting as my ringtone I get the "Invalid file type" error. I've also tried converting the file type to AAC or MP4 format and that does not work either. Any suggestions?

How do you make the 6255i see the memory card? I have formated it and it is seen by the computer but not the phone. Is there something I'm not doing? I have a KingMax 512 card. Nokia said they only recommend their cards and not over 256 🤣 Thank you

Has anyone used the 6255i with a Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset? If so, how well did it work?

How does voice dialing work with a BT headset? Do you always have to press a button on the phone, or can you set it up to just turn the headset on and say the name?

I have seen the write ups regarding the missing Music Player on the Verizon version of Nokia 6256i: I bought this phone in Jan. 06 thru Bestbuy but I got accessories through Alltel since they carried the phone also. Alltel told me about the Music Player capabilities--but they did not know VZW had not loaded the software, nor did I until I began to load MP3 files to a MMS card and attempt to listen to them through the phone--how disappointing it was. 😢 Does anyone have any recent info if this Music Player software is available now thru VZW or elsewhere to download it on to the phone? Are there any other options for playing MP3s on this phone?

What's goin on people, I'm thinking of getting another phone with MetroPCS (the v266 is not what I wanted, it doesn't do anything for the price 😡 )..

Anyway, I was wondering what restrictions MetroPCS had on the Nokia 6255i. Did they hinder any of the features? How well does BT work with it? Is the MMC Slot available? Can you upload your own MP3s onto the phone?

These features that I want are gonna be the dealbreaker as to which phone I switch to. I don't want the RAZR, since so many people have it, plus there is no expandable memory. Anyway, thanks for any help.. 🙂

I am so mad that I got this phone. I just submitted a review. I can't believe so many gave it a good rating. It sucks!!!!! I never missed so many calls that just "magically" went right to voice mail when I have full signal. I'm in sales, and I really hate this. I miss my LG VX 6000 that I dropped in the toilet. To everyone that gave this phone a 3 or more, bite me!!!!! And I and my girl have used it for 3 months now, so it's not that I am not use to it, it's just a peice of junk!

Ok i just got my 6255

I uploaded some MP3's i can't seem to set them as ringtones???? It says invailid file??????

Any idea how to fix this?

2nd where do you guy get your ringtones? I was hoping to just use my MP3's like on my other phones.

3rd. can you set a differnt ring for differnt contacts???

Just ordered the Kingston 2 GB MMCplus MultiMediaCard from Dell for $59.99 + tx

Installed into my Nokia 6255i, powered on, checked gallery (took a while, I assume it was auto formatting the MMC). It shows up as "Kingston" free memory 1905.6 MB!! So I can safely say this card works and well worth the $$.

Can someone explain to install animated screensavers on my VZW 6256i(guessing it will work the same as the 6255i).Thanks

can this phone use SD cards or is it only MMC cards? i thought they were the samething but when i put my SanDisk 512 SD card in it didn't work. What brand do you think i should use? or do i need to use a MMC card?

From what I have read here, you can use a 1GB or 2GB MMC type card in the Nokia 6255i, but that its Media Player only will recognize/display (allow access to?) 200 files (at one time?)

Is there any workaround for this?
(i.e creating folders, sub-folders, etc)

I plan to purchase the Nokia 6255i from MetroPCS (FL) within the next 48 hours.

The 6255i's MP3/AAC, Bluetooth, 'decent' VGA camera, FM radio (albeit not compatible with Bluetooth headsets) and MMC storage option, has compelled me to go forward and purchase it (and not to wait for the RAZR or the E815, to arrive.)

I'm hoping I can source a 3rd party, Bluetooth folding keyboard for the 6255i as well, as I am moving from a Motorola i60c from Nextel with the folding iBoard k...

Has anyone noticed that this phone has the tendency to roam in good service areas? It seems to roam quite often. When I set the network to "home only" it has no problem picking up us cellular towers and I get great reception. I've never had a problem with my other us cellular phones in the same areas. Anyone know why it seems to be picking up verizon towers even when USCC signal is stronger? It's not a huge problem, I don't get charged for roaming, however it takes longer for me to receive both text messages and voicemail. Setting it to home only to correct this also isn't a big deal, but I wanted to see if anyone else is noticing this, or if it just may be an issue with my individual phone. I own a Nokia 6256i with Verizon Wireless and love it. I live outside the Continental USA (live in one of the USA territories) and now I’m very disappoint when I found that any person you try to call me from outside the island were I live just get a busy signal. I just cannot received a incomming Long Distance call. I purchased this phone in the Mainland and activated the same locakkt with no problem at all until found this problem. I called Verizon Wireless and they just told me that I have to purchased a phone locally and not from the mainland. I just cannot believe, for me this is weird. The 15 days for the free try just expired and now I’m stuck with the phone. I just was wondering if Diego Software could help me to resolved this...

I got mine at Radio Shack, and it looks like they're no longer a VZW Authorized Agent.

Checking VZW's site, I see CC listed as a VZW store, and not as an AA.

But some people say they got their 6256i there, though I don't see it at their site. It is shown at Best Buy's site. (BB *is* listed as an AA.)

(FYI, VZW says I *do* qualify for NE2, based on my renewal for two years at RS.)

I'm wondering if the phone is still available from CC.

It's still not at my two local VZW corporate stores.
