Nokia 6255i / 6256i

Has anyone here used this phone as a dialup modem w/Verizon? Using bluetooth?

I just recieved my 6256i a little over a week ago and the bluetooth module apparently went bad, did this happen to anyone else? VZW is replacing it for free, but I just want to see if anyone else ran into this problem?

anyone using this headset or tried it? if so how is it? nokias site doesnt show it as being on the 6256i compatibility list.

I just received a Motorola E815 and I am wondering if I chose the wrong phone. I am coming from a Nokia 6620 and seriously miss some of its features. One of those is how contacts are handled. I am use to syncing the phone to my computer and having multiple phone #'s, addresses, and email addresses all brought into my phone. Searching for a contact I was abel to enter multiple letters of the name and it would narrow the list based on both first and last name. Switching to Verizon has forced me to look for a new phone. How does the 6256i handle contacts? Thanks for any advice.

so yesterday i went to take a pic but it said my memory was full. no problem i erased a pix. so i went back to take the pic and the display was not working, i could take the pic but not see what i was taking the pic of.. played aroud with some settings but nothing. i turned the phone off and on again, nothing, did it 2 more times and still noting. soo i took off the battery waited 30 seconds put it back on, turned the phone on. when the main display came up, it was not the pic i set, it was that stupis verizon banner, but the camera was workin fine. i hit the menu key and in the middle box was a square that had part of the verizon check mark, not the minibrowser icon. took the battery out again and it worked. but what erked me the most...

I know Verizon loves to lock down phones to oblivion, but how much functionality was ripped from this phone from them? A friend of mine has this phone with MetroPOS and he was able to transfer all his custom ringtones, pictures he wanted for backgrounds, and pictures taken, right to the phone via bluetooth. If VZW didn't lock that down, I think I found my new phone 😁. *crosses fingers*

Got the phone from Verizon and cant find the MiniSd slot anywhere? Is there one? or is it just internal, and i have to use a usb cord to connect and load wallpapers, and music....

This may sound like a dumb question but is there any way to convert MP3 files to MDi? I think that by doing this I could use some of my songs as ring tones.

Either Nokia is liking me a lot or I just get the cool reps...meanwhile I am sure verizon is beginning to hate me. I was in an extensive conversation with a Nokia Rep today about feature availability and what can be done to get them, i.e. unlocking java, working around what verizon has put on the phone and what would happen if I had my cell phone software updated at Nokia. Well if the software were updated, it would make the phone into the 6255 and therefore unusable on the Verizon network. I had a pretty candid conversation about java and the guy was telling me he wished he knew how to do it cause they would do it if they could, but they can't, unless they flash the software but again that makes the phone a 6255. trying to decide whether i should just buy a memory card to transfer pictures to my laptop..or buy a bluetooth connector to wirelessly transfer stuff.. any ideas?

looking on ebay now for a reduced size mmc card or a bluetooth connector thing.. not sure though.

Anyone figure out how to play more than a single song? I finally received my MMC card, put a new folder on it but it will play only one song at a time. As noted in another post the "Play in Sequence" command plays only a sampling of each song in the folder.

Is anyone actually using this phone for Dial Up networking to connect their laptop computer to the Internet, either via data cable, or via bluetooth? I am looking to upgrade my LG6000 and and fed up with all of the newer LG phones because they have crippled DUN which I need whem traveling. Thanks.

So, I spoke with the Nokia Service rep on the phone about two issues.

First, Caller Id works on calling people not when receiving a call. Apparently the software in the 6256i does not support Picture Caller ID. HOWEVER, the 6600 software does support the Picture Caller ID function. I suggest and I might do it, is petition Verizon and Nokia to update the software appropriately.

Second, Center Keypad and programming the functions, also a 6600 issue, it can't be done on ours, but can be done on phones with the 6600 software.

Response, I like the phone I want it to work so I am going to put a petition together to demand from Verizon and Nokia that the phones should work correctly. Who's with me?

Does the Alltel verison of this phone have a card slot? If so where is it and what kind do I need?

I thought the 6256i had themes. That's what it said on the mobiledia site for this phone and i also saw them on the 6255(i?) at an Experience Center.

I played with the 6256i today at Circuit City but i couldn't find the themes anywhere. I looked at the settings menu and went to display but i didn't see how to change the themes anywhere. It's weird though. The phone at Circuit City had little circle things as decorations which i am guessing is a theme but the 6256i on the User Guide Demonstration on the Verizon site didn't have circle things as decorations.

AH why is Verizon killing this phone ?!

Anyone know what the best USB BT Adapter for use with the Nokia 6265i phone is? I purchased a Belkin adapater yesterday in an attempt to transfer music from my computer to the storage card -- connection kept dropping.

Also, for some reason, when connected via BT I could not open the Nokia Audo Manager 5.0 to make the transfer -- needed to use file manager instead. Anyone have any ideas of what I might be doing wrong here?

☹️ did any one know that this phone can only be connected to 1 bluetooth acc. at a time??? i was very upset last night when i tried to connect my h.s to the phone, and then my pc, but i could only have one. this happen to anyone else, or is there any way around it???

I've tried Motorola (H700) and Plantronics (320 and 640) and none of these BT headsets were worth keeping due to static and poor sound quality. Does anyone have a suggestion insofar as a reliable brand and model which works well with the 6256i?

Today I bought a 6256i from VZW and have been using the H500 bt headset with the phone. No complaints about either, with the exception of when I make or receive a call, the person on the other end claims that I am "muffled" or it sounds as if I am speaking in a tunnel. It's echoed and again, seems muffled. I'm not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

I put a 1 gig mmc card in my Nokia 6255i. The phone recognizes the memory, but now I can not connect to the computer with the usb cable. If I take the card out I can connect. Now what? I want to download music to the card but I cant. Thank you!
