Push-to-talk coming for the V551
According to a PowerPoint document on Motorola's website a push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) ready version of the Motorola V551 is slated for launch next quarter. The Motorola V551p supports the following PoC features:...
Dedicated PTT button (Left side)
PTT client Release 3
Ad hoc Groups
PTT Contact list with presence via Icons
Push to View Phase 1 (under evaluation)
PTT over Bluetooth
And at least according to the early picture available in the document, the V551p will come in a slick black finish. However, the picture is not a photo and was marked as not complete. A T-Mobile logo is featured on the bottom of the handset (though strangely off center). Large copies of these images are available b

Some names, it connects fine. Others, it refuses to or takes something like ten tries. Anyone experience this, and if so, figure out a solution?

Bluetooth file transfer help
Until recently I had no problem connecting via bluetooth and transfering files to the bluetooth exchange folder. Recently I will try to send a file and it will connect, transfer the file, and at the very end it will say "Failed, Connection Interrupted" and it will be unable to move the file.
I called Motorola and they said I should go buy Mobilie phone tools at a nearby store. I don't buy that b/c I was transfering files with no problem before. Does anyone know what is wrong?

V551 Coverage Mystery
In November, I migrated to Cingular and eventually purchased a Motorola V551. I also purchased two V220's for my wife and son. All three phones seemed to have decent coverage at home for the first week or so, but all three are having major problems now. None can make or receive calls.
Trying to isoloate the problem, I unlocked my Nokia 3595 and popped in my Cingular SIM. Guess what? Three bars of signal and no problems making or receiving calls.
So my Cingular SIM works...

V551 & Bluetooth
I talked to a techie at Belkin, and he said that I would need V551 mobile phone tools by Motorola. All I can find is a combo of USB adapter and Version 3 tools. (I don't need another adapter.)
Is there anyone out there successfully download/upload pictures and share addresss book info between PC and V551 without Motorola mobile phone tools software? Or can you get a lite version for free by any chance?
Thanks.

Thanks, but no thanks
All in all, Cingular network seems pretty good, but lots of dropped calls, voice quality not quite so good as Sprint CDMA, and incoming callers always complaining that they were getting all circuits busy messages.
The v.551 feels nice in one's hand, and has tons of great features. But all in all, the interface is too complex, and most of the cool features I would never use anyway.
So, I'm heading back to Sprint and a new Sanyo phone (Sanyo, IMHO, simply sets the standard for quality and performance in handsets - the menu is simple and elegant, and the phones work better than any I've ever used).
Not complaining here - the Cingular folks were very professional. I'm glad I tried it.
V551 Speed Dial etc.
Could anybody explain the fundamental difference among SIM, Phone, and Fixed Dial numbers? My guess is that the numbers in the "SIM" are accessible even when you are out of service area, but you can't make any 1-digit speed dial.
On the other hand, the numbers saved in the "Phone" would not be accesible when you are out of service area, but be able to make 1-digit speed dial. Am I right or wrong so far?
What the heck is the "fixed Dial" then?
2. The manual says to press down the voice key to record, and I can't find the voice key anywhere.
