Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557

Which is better in your opinion?

I just got my V551 and when I connect my bluetooth headset to it. The phone rings and the headset beeps. Is this suppose to happen? When I had my V600 only the headset rung. Can someone tell me if this is a phone or headset problem?

Can't decide between the two: LG L1400 Or the Motorola V551. Can you help me decide between the two of them? Thanks.

Most of the time, when I try to get the list of received calls, the phone takes me back to the home screen. I’m thinking about going to Cingular and re-installing the software. Does anyone know, if re-installing the software, would cause my unlocked phone to become locked again?

How is the Cingular reception on this phone in the Northeast Area. Also can I use mp3 ringtones with this phone or no.

I got this phone for christmas and it's not bad at all. The only problem I have now is that I wanna change the skin and I can't. I have tried multiple times changing it from the personalize menu but all it does is turn the screen white and does not change the skin. I do remember that when i used to power my phone off and then on it would say do u want to personalize. Then one day it asked me if i wanted this to be on the start up screen and I picked no. I hope that since i picked no i will never be able to change this again. Did this happen to anyone else?

Also, I kinda understand that the phone does not have a self image capture, but if i am alone and wanna take a pic of mahself, how would I do that?

Can the V551's charger also charge the HS810?

(If not, then where can I get a charger for the HS810?)

Right now, when people call and their picture shows up with their number/name, it's really small.. is there a way to get the caller id pics to show full-screen??

also, under the regular AT&T GSM local plans, does anyone know if sending pictures costs money? i'm assuming its equivalent to a text message, but i'm not sure and their customer service wait-time is like 30 minutes..

I know that the first handsets delivered had faulty software called AA, with the screen occasionally turning white. I just bought my V551 from a Cingular store and I was under the impression that they stopped selling the faulty ones weeks before. My screen has turned white a couple times so far. Can somebody tell me if i have the AA faulty software?

Maybe i'll just go back to the store and return it since im still under the 30 day return policy

hey I'm new to this site.. 🙄 I'm sure this will sound odd or weird, but I've had my phone about a month now and i just noticed that it sometimes lights up on it's own when it's closed. While it's closed and it sometimes lights up the inside and outside screens are lit, and most times the inside stays lit while the outside light goes off... I've especially noticed this when i charge it. Has anyone else noticed this too?!?! 😕 i don't want to have to return the phone since i already have a lot of downloaded content on it and i wouldn't want to have to pay for it all over again... any help and/or solutions would be great! 🙂

Just curious: What Bluetooth adapter are you guys using with this phone?

I was playing with shortcuts the other day and recorded a voice command. Now how do I make it work with voice command? The usual way of using voice command (to dial) does not seem to work. Please help me see that a shortcut is actually that. 😕

I am confused about what a bluetooth adapter is and what a usb cable is. Which one will work better to transfer files to the v551 ? Please let me know . Also, where do i buy the sotware that will let me choose pieces of my own mp3 files to send to my phone. Thanxx..

My daughter and I both have a V551 and I wanted to know if I download and install a game on mine, can I copy it to her phone using the Mobile Phone Tools and the USB cable?

I can do this with songs by taking them off of my phone and copying them to the computer, then copying them to her phone... But games ???

My (now ancient) Nokia 8260 had a nifty feature to store multiple calling cards with PINs that could then be used with any entry in the phone book.

I don't see any such feature in the v551. Did I just miss it? I've had to approximate it by concatenating the access number to specific address book entries using pause "p" or wait "w".

This isn't elegant at all!

Just wanted to report that this Bluetooth car kit works very nicely with the v551.

My wife and I both got a v551 and DriveBlue each, and our phones now work interchangeably with both car kits.

Audio quality is acceptable, if not great, but it seems to depend on the quality of the mic more than anything else. I reused a mic that was already there in my car from a previous car kit, and the audio quality (for callees) seems to be the same as it was with my previous car kit (Nokia 8260 CARK-112).

Some minor glitches:

- occasionally the phone and kit will not find each other - power cycling one or the other seems to fix that
- when connected to the car kit, the ringtone always seems to revert to "Continental", no matter which rington...

Has anyone has the Sony phone and how does it compare to V551. I think the only difference is Bluetooth and speakerphone.

I had heard that this would be the phone provided for ATTWS employees now working under the new cingular banner?? Has anyone heard this yet?? Can confirm it?? I have also heard rumors of the V3 RAZR being the employee phone....I find that hard to believe...simply because it's going to be a hard enough phone to get a hold of.

I was wondering if I can send my own mp3's to the phone? or do I have to pick from the generic songs from the web sites?

I don't really know how to go about using a data cable and the software to use it with my computer. Does anybody know any wap sites that offer free mp3 or full audio rintones? thanks. 😎
