Sony Ericsson S710a

There is a new post on Ebay that actually is selling the new s710 on and not the s700. It looks legit and is a good sign for those of us waiting for it.

i was looking at the supply chain managment. updtaed recetly sicne last week.
the eta on released date was not thier nor any mention on the bt problems or nay progrees at all. but my sec one that i want the moto a630 they had a memo saying all issue dresolved and waiting for the right paper work to be filed. wtf ? i still hav found no solid release date for this phone.

I was in NYC. They had one behind the glass in a store in Times Square and a lady took one out and turned it on for me in Chinatown.

Some observations:

-Its not a light silver like portrayed in most pictures, more of a dull gray.
-It doesn't look big
-The screen looks more glassy than on most cells
-The look of the phone is pretty neutral, more like a gadget. If you're looking for some high end 'fashionable' phone to 'fall in love with' or use to somehow try to attract girls, its not for you. If you 'love' it, it will be because of the features. Personally I find most phones distasteful, usually cuz they're too feminine. This one is not disagreeable, but not especially attractive

Ok i have been throught hell with cell phones, ive had virgin and boost and t-mobile 2 go, and an att wireless go phone, i just want a DAM contract(my fricken mom wont sign won), anyways i am very excited about this phone, so i called cingular wireless (i live in glen ellyn IL,) and they told me there WAS a bug and it is delayed a little while(today is the 14 of January) and i had asked them when the store was going to recive it,a dn he said maybe feb. i was mad because that is the only phone i would get from cingular, i was certenly not going to pay 500 for that crappy v3(only 5mb of memory, no flash, no aim, ) but im sorry to tell you guys maybe next month it will be here. 😕

I called the national sales line today and the operator told me her inventory system showed a release date of Jan 27. Of course i dont trust what cingular reps say anymore.

Okay, I'm taking one for the team. I am going to go on a hunger strike until Cingular releases this phone. In doing so, I'm hoping they hurry and release this thing so we can finally lower our blood pressure, lose all of our anxiety, and finally what we want and rightfully deserve!!! 😁

Mark my words! If I die it is only and solely the fault of Cingular Wireless! 🤣

Im not sure where the information came from originally, but can anyone verify whether or not the warehouse recieved s710 today?

👿 If you thin Europe is millenia ahead of the u.s. in mobile tech and they have streamin audio, chew on this...i hear that in the middle east they already hae the streamin audio deal and much more cauz theyr millenia ahead of europe in phone tech! and us stuck here in u.s. ...shouldnt we get better tech?

This phone has been subject to many o' rumor on release dates. Now, of course, this is subject to change, but officially from Cingular, the "market availibility" on this phone is Feb. 14th in the West Region. Cingular is notorius for releasing phones in different markets at different times, so for everyone else I don't know, and I never will. Now Sony had intially set the no commitment price for this phone at 699, but we will see how that plays out. I dont actually care what the price is, as I did just win one yesterday through work 😁

For the purposes of this post, I'm assuming two things, based on what I've read the past 3 weeks regarding the S710a (I'm just thinking out loud here):

1. The firmware (FW) will be Cingular branded
2. Firmware is the reason for the delay

Assuming these two things are true, which they may not be, who writes Cingular's firmware? Does Cingular have a software team, do they give specs to the manufacturer and have them do it or do they contract it out to a 3rd party? Whatever the answer is, I'm really starting to worry about the quality of the firmware, and hence the phone. I think we can all agree that regardless of the phone's feature set, if the firmware is bad, the phone is bad.

Think about it, the S710a is based off the S700i ...

Just talked to my friend at the cingular store here, and they got dummies and collateral in today's shipment. Should be next week on release if everything goes as usual on collateral arrival vs phone arrival.

The s710a, if everything goes smoothly, which i doubt it will, seeing how many times it has been delayed, should be approved by CINGULAR around the 24th of January. After that its about one week for the phones to get to the warehouse and then an extra week for them to get to the stores.
So the earliest we can expect it is the 1st week of Feb.
Honestly Im probably gonna give up on the phone if they are going to keep their current price-line. I saw price sheets and its

i also heard. the the bt was having issues. it was said that it was having issues wher the phone resets, a lote. remember the calssic nokia gait- 6340i? issues? ( hopfully this wont happen iam really hoping this phone works.)i even emailed sony to see if they would sell me the phone dirictly from them.i even ,mentioned the problem with the bt. i sent this two weeks ago.still no response.since i work at the call center and i even asked a agent if they win this phone at the store if they would sell it. to call me- let me make a offer.(a lote of the guys sold their v3 on ebay when they won them in a cntest they were having last month). you know its funny they are having a contest for a phone that has not even been aproved yet form cingular? does anyone know where you can get free polyphonic ringtones? i have found a few spots for them but would like to get more, i have the motorola v600 piece of sh!t and cant wait for this se s710a to come out, i hate this v600 for $400 it was the worst purchase i have ever made, and i wioll NEVER EVER buy another motorola phone, but enough venting.. anyone know where i can get some free ringtones or games?!?! thanks! 🙂

I suspect this phone is about to be "released" on the Sony Ericsson website, they just added a new Accessories section.

Man I can't wait to get this phone, this is the type of phone you love before you even get it. But one thing I don't love is what it is doing to some of the people on this forum, the people on the threads are sounding more angry and bitter each day, the wait is makin some of you guys crazy. All I tryin to say is chill out, I mean I should be angry and bitter im stuck with the V710 from Verizon till this phone comes out. Wait a minute . . . I am angry and bitter . . . stupid V710!

Don't think I've seen anypiost re: this, but I'm sure some of you who are dying for the phone and are ready willing and able to chew up any new info on the phone on an hourly basis will be happy to know that the entire owners/users manual is up on the sony site for downloading. 97 pages should keep you busy for a while...

i cant say why but trust me -if you call that number we dont know anything. we dont know the release date for sure. but it is a fact - thier is a contest with many agents in the south central states that their phone that they can win this month is the sony s710a. so it really can be that long from now. call a store and be nosy. ask then . thell tell you. 😈 👿 👿 😈 👿 😈

cingulars is gonna or might sell this its a sandisk 128mb PROduo stick. you heard right. if this is true then ,hell it should be possible to by one of the same brands pro gig if they make it. any ideas?
