Transfering older PALM OS data

I am thinking about getting a PALM Treo 650 (GSM) through Cingular. Question: I am currently using Palm OS software for my old clunker Palm Pilot..version 4.1.4. Anyone know if I will be able to transfer my Palm data to my Treo? Sorry, I am a newbie at this.

Data should be no problem at all, apps might be a problem. Before you start, go to where you have palm software installed and make a backup copy of profile folder just in case. Then install the latest version of palm desktop. Now when you sync the treo as long as you use the same username, it should sync your existing data to the device. Some older palm apps will run on OS 5 some won't You may be able to get newer versions of old apps if you have a problem. I went from a tungsten T2 to a treo 650 and it loaded everything right up.

I've been a Treo 650 user for a while and had my shares of headaches. Don't get me wrong, I still loved my 650 and there's always a trade off, there's no such thing as a perfect phone.
If I were you, I'll wait a few months. Palm is coming out with the Treo750 with Windows mobile and Quad band GSM and Tri band UMTS. It is now available in Europe for Vodaphone. If you Google it, you'll see what it looks like. A friend of mine works for Cingular and they're testing the US version right now. So far, I was told that it is a much better unit than the 650. Good luck

The 750 hardware may be better than the 650 but the real problem is windows mobile. In a word it sucks! I tried the 700w before getting my 650 and I hated it. It clunky and un-responsive, and take too many clicks to do anything. If you like the palm os go for the 650 or if you switch to verizon get the 700p.
